Does any one use these? if so what kind and how good are they?
We are having a poacher/trespass problem at our ranch in Mills Co.
they are even hunting out of our blinds and leaving stuff in them.

have one and it works great. You can also send it a text to make it take a picture.

I'm also interested in these. My questions are how easy are they to use? Also what's a good camera for the price?

PM JustWingem. He's pretty high-tech in this arena I think.

'Sorry you're having to deal with those sorry low-lifes. I assume you've alerted the game warden?

Covert Special Ops Code Black. I stopped using the texts due to a million racoon and hog pics. I set up a yahoo email and just have them sent there.

Just make sure you have good service, or I don't think they'll work well?

Just don't shoot a B&C buck using one.

Meet the GW and sign the consent form for them to be able to file charges on your behalf when you aren't present. Let him know you will be placing the cameras and the GW will usually give you their cell number for immediate contact to catch the poachers...

I wanted one of these camera's but we got very bad reception on the lease, so I'm just having to wait and see whats been around once I get down there.

Checked into them a few months ago. At the time, most of the models required service with AT&T through a partnership with the camera maker. Also, resolution of sent images was low only, making you wait until you accessed the memory card to view high-resolution photos.

Check on compatibility with available service providers before you buy. Otherwise you might end up with a camera that doesn't work with the only network in your area.

I have a Covert as well. Signal ain't great and the pics are average, but I'd buy another one if I needed two. I've got cuddebacks on the other feeders and move this one around. This was taken couple days ago and emailed it me.

Old model, it's discontinued, and at $379, no bargain. Get the 3G version from Amazon.

I'm running one, soon to be two, but Covert 3G. It sends me 12 megapixel pics via text messages. You will need a decent signal with AT&T cellular. With my family plan, I can add another with unlimited text for 9.99 a month.

Re: Game cameras that text pics - 01/08/15 05:53 PM

we considered trying one but our cameras will take 500 to 1500 pictures over 3-4 weeks and trying to go through them all one email at a time is not practical

That's how it starts. You have to go back in and change settings. I have mine take pic every two minutes, and set sensitivity to low. I don't get constant wind blowing trees pics these days.

I've had good luck with the Bushnell I put out in Sept.

Re: Game cameras that text pics - 01/11/15 12:16 PM

those of you using these - if you receive say 500 pictures does each picture come as an email or text? If so how do you realistically go through that many pictures one email or text at a time? I understand placing the camera sensitivity low but we still get hundreds of deer pictures.

Re: Game cameras that text pics - 01/11/15 12:27 PM

You can set them to come as text or email. I wish I had your too many deer pics problem. If I had hundreds of pics to sort through I would move them to my computer and display the thumbnail pics to visually scan. I normally just use my phone to watch them as they text to me. If I get a keeper I transfer the pic to a folder.

so to clarify, how would you move them to your computer? can the pics be sent in a different format than text or email? Otherwise wouldn't you still have to download each email to your computer?

Re: Game cameras that text pics - 01/12/15 10:30 PM

Just speaking about the Bushnell camera.

There is a website where you view all the thumbnails and decide if you want to download a full image. You can also change settings remotely. It's pretty easy to organize. I get about 1000 a month.

However, I still periodically go to the camera and get all the images.

It just lets me know what's going on when I can't drive the 3 hours to get there.

I worked at a company using Pix Controller cameras for well site monitoring and you could choose from a couple of different carriers for service.
They did take a lot of pics and the sensors would detect from over 100' away without a problem.
