In Alaska for Defense of Life and property kills they confiscate the animal, but then once a year they do a fur auction and the skins are up for auction, Do they do that in Texas, if so she could get the pelt.

Story doesn't really add up!

First part says they see hunting IN NEW MEXICO unit 52 SOUTH of Colorado, but in New Mexico not Colorado!

Then later in the story it says:
"Unfortunately for Alyssa, game wardens confiscated the cat. Considered a varmint in Texas, Colorado has seasons and special tags for mountain lion hunting, and killing one without a tag is a violation, unless the hunter can prove self defense."

Which fully suggests she killed it in Colorado!

Lastly, how is the DEAD cat sitting up on his front legs???

Close call if the story is accurate. Not to downgrade the event in any way, but it looks like a pretty small cat (relative to other mountain lions).

That's a radio collar for sure, brown leather strap, you can see the antenna too

Another version has it in NM with NM game wardens involved. First story just got some of the info mistaken.
