Low fence bucks, Kendall county - 08/24/14 09:01 PM

Got these on a buddies place north of boerne.

Gonna shoot one in October, I'm ready for that low fence challenge.

Explorer is parked strategically to give me cover to sneak from porch to within' shooting distance

Now that's fair chase, by golly.

It's gonna be so awesome, these bucks mean so much more to me than any animal I have taken behind a high fence. You know, hunting a wild animal (not tame animals like you find behind a HF) like these, the hunting is just so much more challenging

Yeah - One of them might scratch the hood of the Explorer leaning over it to see if there is more food ninja

Now, if you bribe the owner, or even better the yardman, you will have the perfect lease!

That's actually the chimney portion of the outdoor cooking area, which is better cause I can hunker down and use that as cover

I'm doing the same thing near Fredericksburg, also on a low fence ranch.

You have to be an EXPERT hunter there, because it's really difficult to get the bucket of corn out of your hand and the rifle up before the deer have swarmed you, and I won't take shots with multiple potential hits.

Looks like you got nearly 1/4 acre there; looking to sub-lease?

Just leave a trail of corn to an open freezer door and see if they'll jump in. ninja

Ya'll don't wear face paint???
My BinL in Wimberly's next door neighbor shoots 'em from the upstair dormer window...and my BinL in Fayette County is now too old to get off the porch...but he sez he makes it sportin by swinging in the glider whe he pulls the trigger, but I think he cheats...

You'd be the same way if your nutrition came from licking rocks & eating pea gravel.. bolt

Looks like my back yard too, less the amount of bucks. My wife feeds about 7-9 does and fawns everyday, with an occasional older buck. It has been designated as "safety zone", so it would be like shooting one of the "chill'ns", cooking would stop and I'd starve to death, so I just deal with it LOL.

My hats off to the fellas that actually wear the pants when it comes to yard "ornaments".

You notice none of them score very high B&C.

Re: Low fence bucks, Kendall county - 08/25/14 05:21 PM

Higher than chipmunks.

Ill give you that, your tree rats and swamp rabbits score higher than our ground squirrels and desert cottontails

Re: Low fence bucks, Kendall county - 08/25/14 06:00 PM

If you can kill enough of them to keep them from world domination and allow them to get some age they grow quite nicely on pea gravel

As you can see he was in a food plot. smile

I tried getting close to one yesterday and it hauled butt. Did see a 180 class out in a food plot though at dark.
