Wildfire wiped me out!!!

I guess everyone has seen on TV about the wildfires around PK Lake by now. Well, I own 180 acres in the NE corner of Stephens County about 5 miles north from the NW corner of PK Lake.

I got a call last night around 7pm that my ranch was on fire. We made it up there from Dallas by before 10pm and everything is pretty well wiped out. I have a 38' travel trailer and lots of stuff sitting around, generator, mowers, etc., everything is destroyed. Probably about 80-90% of my land has been burned as well.

I do have insurance, but it definitely won't cover nearly all of it, so I will lose a lot.I really had a great place with a lot of good deer and turkey. Hopefully the land and wildlife will come back after a few years and maybe, someday, I can get things back to normal.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but don't think you'll have to wait 3 years for the deer and turkey to come back.

The places that have burned earlier in the year are the only places with green grass around here.

Larry, Thankful for you that you have insurance and that you are safe. I bet this fire will ultimately be a major benefit for your ranch. My only hope is that you didn't lose all your hardwood trees. God Bless and keep us informed on how it is going!

As a victim from fire about 4 years ago I can tell you the land will bounce back and so will the wildlife.

As far as stuff goes it sux. It takes a long time to bounce back. We didnt have insurance.

I am sorry for your loss. I lost $145,000 worth of equipment an animals several years ago. I know you will feel like just laying down and given in. You just have to keep moving forward. Be blessed you had insurance, i did not. The land and wildlife will benefit greatly from this cleansing mother natures way. Hang in there. May God Bless you an your family.

My neighbor and his dad own 160 acres out there in the same general area as you, Ranger. Same thing happened to them, they just got back from there today. They lost 2 trailers, all contents, all stands and feeders, everything. They took pictures, it's sickening seeing the destruction. Gonna have to play it by ear this year, I'm going to try to get them room out at my place to hunt this next season. Prayers to you, thank the Lord you have insurance to cover at least some of it.

100% of our place burned 2 years ago, and the deer and hogs came back thicker than ever after it. Thankfully at the time we had nothing to loose but a couple blinds and feeters. Since then we have done alot to the place and definately have something to loose and now make a fire break around our perimiter to help calm our nerves.

We have a half secting, 1mile long and have trail cams the lenght of the place, fire got the whole place in about 20 minutes. documented by the pics, all of the cameras survived!

Sorry for your loss. I know how you feel I just had my stuff burn up also. I'm in Stephens County also just outside of Strawn lost my trailer, generator, blinds, feeders.. etc also. It just bites!!!! But I thank god no one got trapped or hurt out on our lease. Back to starting over. Good luck!
