Hello from CO Springs

Posted By: KRoyal

Hello from CO Springs - 11/22/22 08:13 PM

Took the family in a road trip and staying the week up here. We came 2 years ago but it was a blizzard and mostly everything was closed down. We did Pikes Peak and the North Pole yesterday and went on a hike this morning. Pretty proud of Colt did 4 miles at altitude, not bad for a 4 year old lol.

Have had some good food and drinks and lots of family time. Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.

That is one of my favorite things about living here. There are a ton of beautiful hikes all around the city. Hope you all enjoy your time here! And your boy is a trooper. I've had friends that came to visit and were gassed after an hour hiking at altitude.

I love it, my wife and I traveled all around the world before he was born, but it’s much more fun being able to share the experiences with him. We never leave him at home, he always goes everywhere with us.

up lots of beautiful sights to see, was going to say the views at our lodge at flying horse are amazing but pretty much everywhere you look it’s amazing. He can do 5-6 miles back in Texas no problem, we’re going to do another one Thursday morning going to try and push him an extra mile in and out so 6 mile round trip. We did Seven Bridges today, going to look online for another good one.

I was kinda worried because I heard the same. 2 years ago on Thanksgiving week we flew into a freak snow storm and everything was closed down. We basically drove the rented jeep around for a week and did what we could lol.

It’s perfect weather here, mid 50’s during the day and cools off at night real good. Get in the shadow of the mountain though and it’ll drop from 50’s to 20’s real quick lol.

Another place you should check out is Dragon Man's military museum. Largest collection of military weapons, uniforms, vehicles, etc in the country (I believe). Neat place for sure.

Always enjoy visiting Colorado Springs. If you enjoy German food and have not been there you need to try Edelweiss German Restaurant. Also for for some indoor educational fun you might visit the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center.

Since our steak house at the lodge was booked for Thanksgiving we’ve called around and the was one of the places we called. Literally everywhere is booked so not sure what we’re doing for that lol.

Oh, and Uwe's is the best traditional German food in town. Blows edelweiss away. My grandparents on mom's side are German emigrants and I grew up eating amazing homemade German food. Uwes comes close to the real deal. Don't get BBQ here. It's all trash compared to TX😂

Now that’s what I’m talking about! If time permits I’ll definitely go grab one, only problem is my wife isn’t allowed to drive my truck so I’m full time DD. Don’t ask she is a terrible driver lol.

Re: Hello from CO Springs - 11/24/22 01:23 AM

Had a pretty decent day in Denver today. Did the City Pass and did the Aquarium, Kids Museum, and the Museum of Nature and Science.

Aquarium was pretty good, Colt loves aquariums. The Kids Museum was an absolute madhouse with kids of all ages running wild, couldn’t leave that place fast enough. Had a pretty good lunch with a few beers. The manager came over and chatted with us and asked us where we were from. He said Denver was nice and really middle of the road and moderately common sense as to where we’re at politics wise. I was thinking you must be smoking too much Denver weed if you think this is middle of the road politically. He then told us he was from California so yea maybe Denver does seem middle of the road compared to Cali.

We then went to the Nature and Science Museum, it was pretty dang nice. Have a lot of great space and nature stuff and even an Egypt exhibit which I’m a sucker for, but boy was I ready to go.

Saw some stuff today that made me shake my head and some that just flat pissed me off.

First up was a lady with 2 kids a little older than Colt. All 3 were masked up and gave us side eyes if we got a little close to her and her kids while looking at the exhibits. Wanted to tell her if you’re that scared to breathe air she should have kept her [censored] at home.

Second was 2 13-15 year olds, one of which was a tranny (male) and the other was a girl, but they were holding hands and hugging all over each other. So I’m guessing the girl is gay and the boy is a tranny being a girl to hook up with the gay girl? bang can’t keep up with this [censored] anymore.

Third and this one pissed me off, little boy about 2-3 years old could barely walk that well wearing a damn dress. I heard one of the museum workers comment how cute it was… To me that is child abuse end of story. If they keep it up that kid is going to be messed up for life.

I really enjoy COS but I’d be fine never stepping foot back in Denver.

Yeah that’s a mess, Kyle. The good thing is we still get to raise our kids the way we think is best… for now anyway. Try and overlook it as best you can, focus on the mountains, and enjoying the time with your family. The aquarium looks cool and little dude looks like he’s having fun!

Oh yea Colt had a great time which is all that matters. What other people do is none of my business, but feel sorry for the kids with these virtue signaling parents.

Hitting up another hike first thing in the morning and my wife’s best friend from high school which lives in AR now just happens to be coming through CO on their way back from Moab and is going to get a hotel here and meet us tomorrow evening for thanksgiving dinner. Couldn’t have worked out any better.

We went to a dispensary here, there aren’t a lot open to the public most just medical.

We wanted to try a few to compare to our products. We got a vape and some gummies. The gummies tasted like I just ate a joint. Didn’t do anything for me. I’ve hit the vape a couple times, it’s a little better but still meh. Our Delta8 is much more powerful. Had to leave it at home though, because oddly weed is completely legal here yet D8 is illegal here. Go figure.

Wasn’t impressed I always order my steak medium because they normally over cook it to medium well which is how I like it. I can’t stand the texture of raw meat makes me want to puke. This was somewhere between rare and medium rare. I choked down 2-3 bites of it and then just ate my sides and one of Colts ribs he didn’t eat. I didn’t send it back like Wade lol.

You are supposed to eat the gummies with something fatty, helps with absorption.
You must not have looked close enough because most towns have both med and rec pot sales. Look at a weed map online next time.

Lol I definitely know my way around edibles. These did nothing to me or my 95 pound wife and she took 2 LOL. COS is a little different than a lot of the CO towns. There are only a handful of rec places open to the public. These were from Maggie's Farms which is a pretty big dispensary with several locations. Took one of our D8 gummies when I got home and ate popcorn and watch Ridiculousness and laughed for hours. There was no comparison.
