Water Leak - 10/31/22 03:39 PM
City said i have a bad water leak, we have a new meter that is evidently connected to a computer. Turned sprinkler system off thought there might be problem there but no. Cannot see or hear water running. Suggestion to find the leak?
Go out to meter and see if it’s actually reading flow, with no water running in the house. Look for a leak on your side in the meter box. After that, I have no experience.

Turn Sprinkler off at double check first thing
If leak detector on meter is still moving, check running toilets, hose bibs leaking, drippy faucets.

Do you have a swimming pool with auto fill?

Before turning anything off go out to the meter and check to be sure the small dial is spinning. If it is then start with turning off the sprinkler double check like mentioned.

If meter spinning and sprinkler shutoff doesn't stop it, try also shutting off main valve to house;
if still 'spinning', leak is along waterline;
if meter stops spinning, something in house (or under house) is leaking.
If leak along waterline, walk along it and push a probe down into ground till you find a soft-spot.
If waterline is really long and cannot find with probe, you can try digging a 'test-hole' every 20/30/50 feet till you find one(s) 'filling' with water...

Have turned sprinkler system off, meter continues to run, nothing on in the house. Turned meter off at the street and all info goes away on the meter this supposedly indicates leak on house side of meter. No wet spots visible.
Thanks for suggestions will look some more.

Found it, supply line for water softener comes into a rock garden then up garage wall and across garage attic. Someone mentioned lines in the attic a day or so ago but did not think that was it due to no water in ceiling. Today I thought check the supply line in the rock area and sure enough there it was. the water never came up to the surface. Thanks for all the comments for places to check.

Thank goodness it wasn't a slab leak

He would've had to call "the Man" for that one.
