Had some chats when I was bartending in college. Frankly they were depressing. Mostly stories of ex-wives and broken homes.

My dad use to go have a beer at a west Odessa dive bar after he finished yard work. He always said just good hard working folks in the place! I told him they ain't hard working if the POS's are in there at 10 AM. White trash just waiting on the grim reaper or someone to buy them a PBR.

I bartended in my youth. The stories and what I saw kept me from hanging out in bars.

I Resemble that. Or should that have been Resent. No Resemble is the word. Go to Odessa every few weeks to see a couple old friends that are still left and have a cold one. Most have died off. Old age.

If I was talking to an old bar fly in a bar, there would be two drunks not having a clue what they were talking about to begin with laugh

One I remember when in college, she was a late thirties woman that looked rode hard and put up wet, she was at the bar daily from open to close. All she talked about was travelling and how many of the PRCA men she had bedded over the years.

Ah, the old Alkie Bar fly.

When your 5 drinks into a conversation the old men seem like they are the wisest person in the universe.

I've had many good conversations in bars but you need to leave it at the bar.....its not a place to go looking for wisdom or sage advice

I use to go have a beer at Zanes on University. Thursday or Friday evening was the time to go...providing Sam was working! She's a sweet heart. Known her since she started bar tending.

I chatted with an older lady regular in the hotel bar last night. Had talked with her in the past. She was from Alaska. Fascinating lady with all sorts of believable stories about Alaska.

I've been tired of bars/barflies and that whole atmosphere. Single with no desire to go bar hopping again, been there done that. Seen plenty Arby's sandwiches that are fun for a night or two, but I ain't bringing that home to my family. Not even with extra mustard.

Creekrunner is a good man, and gives good advise. I'm starting to think that I should listen to it.
