Sounded Terrible, Had to Buy

Sounded Terrible, Had to Buy - 08/22/22 07:15 PM

Went to HEB after dropping my kids off at school and this caught my eye. I've never had an Abita I didn't like, this may change that. I'll crack one open this evening.

You have sampled a lot of different beers over the years…

I’m interested to here what you think!

Forgive me for preferring beer which actually tastes like beer.

Abita Amber on tap is a favorite of mine when in Louisiana.

He samples beer the way you sample whiskey/bourbon!
One is definitely a cheaper habit, but the key is being palatable!

Abita Amber, peach, and root beer is winning

So, Bubblegum juicy IPA. I've had some Juicy IPA's from some other brewers that were very good. As long as "Bubblegum" is just in the name and not a taste descriptor, I'd bet it's pretty good.

Has good aroma and a nice pour. Smells a little like Juicy Fruit and banana. I didn't expect much on taste and was pleasantly surprised. 7 out 10, would drink again.

Was it overly fruity? Or did it have a good IPA taste with just a hint of fruit?

Not too fruity. Mostly IPA with a little fruit on the backend.

IPA’s are trash, I don’t care who makes them. Abita Amber and purple haze are excellent

I do not enjoy most of them either but lately I've had several at brew houses that were fruity ones that were sour and very refreshing. Now I wouldn't want to drink more than 1 or 2 of them but they were pretty good and different.

I used to never drink anything but 'normal' beer from Miller Lite in my younger years to Bud Light, and then some Coors light. I wouldn't drink one now if you paid me to. I don't drink that much anymore and now just enjoy a couple of really good brews from the mom & pop breweries and most of them are the stouts.

I like anything from a domestic to a heavy stout on the right cold winter day with the right meal. But I’d just assume never have a beer again if it was only IPA
