Couple of cool pics

In the first pic is my great-great grandmother in her bearskin coat with a few bears hanging. On the left is her husband and on the right is her son, my great grandfather, Ray. Ray lived in the UP of Michigan and was the official state hunter/trapper for the area, as well as a game warden during the early 1900’s until the 1930’s

The second photo is of one of his bear traps and hangs in my Aunt’s garage in the UP. It is a Newhouse No. 5

I have some copies of newspaper clippings. In one it congratulates Ray on trapping 55 bears and wolves in one winter.

Yeah it gets chilly. I was there last week and lows were in the upper 40’s to low 50’s. It was fantastic! That’s why they have the bearskin coats…

Great old photos along with further info. Sometimes see old photos in diners and whatnot, but generally that's all you get, more flavor when thinking what those days must have been like when the photo is given context.
