DQ Question…. - 06/22/22 09:38 PM

Are those steak fingers any good?

Re: DQ Question…. - 06/22/22 09:45 PM

Yes! Yes they are! Only thing I'll eat from there that's not dessert.

Very good, use Kent Rollins recipe if you want to make better ones at home..

Re: DQ Question…. - 06/22/22 09:55 PM

I’m not really a fan of the steak fingers. May have just been the individual location I ate at, but they were greasy and not good.

Everything fried is good...

The Dude, thank me later.

Re: DQ Question…. - 06/22/22 10:05 PM

After growing up on chicken fried steak, I’ve gotten kinda burned out on fried food. Once in a blue moon I stop at DQ for a change and get them. With appropriate expectations(low) they can be Ok if enough gravy and toast is involved.
Blizzards are the only reason DQ still exists.

Steak Finger basket is solid for a few trips a year.

freerange speaks for me on DQ. Only Blizzards are worth ordering at the Barely Clean.

Yep, the one in Jacksboro can’t even make a Blizzard right.

On a side note, a friend of mine bought the Chicken E in Jacksboro and has it turned around and good again.

Re: DQ Question…. - 06/22/22 10:45 PM

Depends on how old the grease is. Or if they are deep-frying them in recycled hamburger patty grease.

How can you even have Texan in your handle?

The DQ in Merkel was torn down and replaced by an Allsups truckstop. All Dairy Queens are not equal.

Yep, Kent's is legit. As is most of his cooking.

As a kid I loved DQ's steak finger basket and got it all the time, but for the last 15+ yrs or so I don't like it at all. Just doesn't taste good to me anymore. I prefer making my own.

I'm glad to hear this, I'll have to stop and check them out. It's been awhile, but the last two times I went there it wasn't good at all.

Still pretty good, especially if the Texas toast is fresh.
All fast food went to crap when the “transfats” were replaced years ago.

Spitfire (Snakewranglers wife) makes some mighty fine steak fingers. She batters them with melted vanilla Blue Bell and pancake mix, mixed together. Sounds crazy, but it's surprisingly good.

This. They are gross.

Currently dealing with food poisoning from DQ. Got a dude for lunch and now im laid up in bed at 6pm trying to keep my mind off the vomiting and diahrrea. Thought maybe this thread was gonna be about a recall or something they had causing ppl to get sick.

Hope you’re not a Tik Tok victim. I don’t trust food handlers anymore.

The DQ in Coleman closed a couple years ago as well and I think is a Mexican food place.

X2 I prefer the Chicken Strips.

Like Dogcatcher says "All DQs are not equal." The one in Bowie is excellent with an expanded menu. The one in south Graham I avoid.

That is correct. It’s also the only DQ I’ve ever been to where I had to wait 30 mins for a burger and I was not only the only on in the drive through but also the only customer.

Some thing wrong with the water starting In Coleman and heading west

Hidalgo's must have been closed I presume bobo.

Re: DQ Question…. - 06/23/22 03:26 AM

I’ve had them many times they are what they are… pre made frozen steak fingers, you can probably find the same thing in your grocery store.Ike others the ice cream is what keeps them in business.

The Stripes in Hebbronville always had a really good breakfast, and served some damn good tripas tacos...consistently. Tried DQ a few times, went back to Stripes.

The Falfurrias Stripes was even better. Some serious cooking going on in there, for a gas station.

A brand new Dairy Queen opened up couple years ago nearby my office in Lewisville - thought I'd try the Steak Finger basket - about threw-up trying the 'steak fingers' sick - never again and haven't been back since.
When I was a kid the hungerbuster hamburger was real good. Nowadays I'll take Braums over DQ for any food or icecream.

OP - let us know how it works out for you! whistle

That's surprising since Graham is Richeson Corp's HQ. Richeson DQs are usually the best.

I pretty much grab ultimate breakfast burrito for dinner Friday night @ sonic and tres Amigo pepperoni pizza on Sunday for late lunch when I fill up. That’s me routine
