Broken hip

Broken hip - 05/24/22 03:26 PM

The wife fell and broke her hip. She is getting out of the hospital this Thursday. She will have been there for 2 weeks. She had to get a couple of rods put in to stabilize the bone. I have never personally known anyone who has had this happen to themselves before. This is really some serious stuff. It sounds like it is going to be a long road to semi full recovery.

Prayers for her and you. Rehab and/or in-home rehab is very important and don't short cut it. Learning transfer skills (bed, chair, standing, walker, etc.) with and without assistance will be another key.
Prayer and patience.

Man that is a bad bone to break and a long rehab. My wife broke hers 8 years ago. We ended up putting a bed in the living room for her so she did not feel isolated during her recovery. She did make a full recovery. Keep her off her feet and treat her like a queen. She has a long road to completely recover.

Prayers sent up for her, the rehab is way more critical than most think so as bad as it’s going to suck you need to help her fight through it. I’ve broke mine before and it’s not fun by any means but she can completely recover from it however I can’t stress how important the rehab is.

Amazing what they do. There is a screw close to her knee that holds the rod in place.

Re: Broken hip - 05/25/22 04:51 PM

Prayers up, as others have said Rehab is very important. There will be times it hurts so much but following what they tell her to do will go a long way to making a much more complete recovey.

Adding you both to our daily prayer list.

I've had soft tissue hip problem listening to your Physical Therapist and consistently doing your pt exercises are the key. I know from experience that pain eases quicker in the long term if you're diligent.

Now going to pick her up tomorrow morning. Yesterday we practiced getting into the car. Tried it 3 times. Actually went better than I expected. Then she tried going up a curb. Also after a few times went pretty good. Went about a 100 ft. in her walker. Getting better everyday. Still in a lot of pain after these workouts. Might have to get her out of the car and into the mule or kubota to get her into the house.
