roflmao should give the song a chance, you never know. I think the young man has a future in music.

I couldn’t make it through the whole song, I tried but was afraid that I was going to have to put a sharp stick into my eardrums.

Re: Dead men tell no tales - 05/23/22 03:43 AM

Generic.... Is every country singer required to sound the same ??
Like some backwoods, country hick...
I've heard a version of this song, a thousand times...
But, what do I know ??? Good luck, to the young man..

Re: Dead men tell no tales - 05/23/22 03:58 AM

Gonna have to agree. Very Generic. Not that he's not talented, but I don't see that one making it for him. Also, I understand it's not how good you are, but who you know. I've got a buddy that's been playing for over 2 decades. He's really good. Ive seen him open for some pretty big names, and he's had a few songs on 95.3 in dallas, 99.5 in Ft worth, and some station down in Houston. But that's it. He tried the Nashville thing, but it's hard to weasel your way in. Good luck to him!

Quickly tell him to change his look from Rainbow Kenny to something way different. Might, just might make it.

Had to lol at that one.

In short, he'll probably make a killing if he connects with the younger FGL type crowd. I personally don't like that type of music but that's just me.

I’ll bet a dollar he’s working in Nashville. Everything out of there for a while now has that generic sound because they want to try and get on as many radio stations as possible

Re: Dead men tell no tales - 05/23/22 03:10 PM

That fake hick sound is all the rage in modern country. Has been for awhile. Just like “country” buzzwords in the lyrics. Who cares if it has no meaning, or there’s nothing genuine about it? As long as you sound like a hick and repeat a few words that the masses can relate to, you’ve got yourself a modern country song.

Sounds like 80% of the rest of them out there today.

C'mon that accent is real. Everyone from Dayton, OH sounds like that....... roflmao

Love the bugle horn at the start, real nice touch

Mainstream definitely is. I spend a lot of time listening to music by unsigned artists who actually do what they want and aren’t trying to make the radio or a record label tell them how to sound. I’m always exploring new music, there’s a LOT of really great country music out there. I haven’t listened to the radio for years

When I used to be book bands some I knew were going to make it didn’t and some I thought would never make it did.
All it takes is the right person to promote you. When Miranda Lambert was just starting I thought she was just ok. She sighed several pics and cds. Which I gave to customers. bang

Re: Dead men tell no tales - 05/23/22 10:17 PM

Did he write it? If so, not too shabby. I'd pick a different hat though.

That's a synthesizer (or what ever they call them now) on the intro. Not even close to a "bugle." Somebody has a tin ear. rofl

I have to take Sneaky to a karaoke bar. He's way too invested in his opinion about country music. I think some oilfield trash is holding out on us. Bet your bottom dollar the sumbitch can sing.

I agree with Creekrunner. Just not my kind of song really as I'm an old school dance hall music guy.

And the hat is absolutely horrible

Jerry Jeff is was a ny transplant that hung around some of the best musicians of his time. In doing so he got to play some of their songs.

Nothing more.

That being said I like some JJW

His best songs were retreards.

My personal favorite that he sang is La Freeway.
