Making long trips to Amarillo or the Valley have never been too bad. These trips will require hitting more projects per run than before.

I’ll keep working so that American oil and gas companies have holes in their casing that allows their wells to be fracked and produced. The more we perforate, the faster we drive that price back down. We’re doing our part. I don’t know of any democrats that are doing their part.

Democrats said a year ago that the goal was to drive fuel prices up $1\gallon each year, until you could not afford to operate a gas or diesel vehicles.
Looks like they are ahead of schedule on this one.

Very little forethought has been put into preparing people to buy and use EV's. But that's entirely beside the point. Right now it's all about making money on government funding to build and sell them. It's up to the consumer to figure out all the life-changing and expensive details on how to use and maintain them. As they like to say, "Let them figure all that out."
We'll wait to sometime later to discuss how to safely defend the nation and take the battle to our enemies without the use of fossil fuels. Besides, our enemies are sure to follow the same course or cut us some slack while we toy with our rail guns.

Yesterday I bought dog food. I buy the decent stuff. Purina pro plan. I know that stuff is up nearly 50% from a year ago. When she said 80 bucks I dang near fainted.
When all of the grain being pulled from the field this year hit the market in the form of bread, cereal, pasta. On and on and on. It’s gonna take some folks breath away.

For those considering buying an EV, most of them require roughly 32 amps at 220 volts to add roughly 25 miles of range per hour of charging. A 50-amp charger will get you about 37 miles of range per hour of charging. Of course, you'll need to have a charging station wherever there's a need to park and recharge your vehicle.
With central air units pulling anywhere between 15-60 amps, you might think of the power needed to charge your EV as being what's needed to run your central air AC.

After a month or 2 of the high prices the oil companies will have a glut of both crude oil and refined fuel. Supply will exceed demand and the price will start coming back down.
But in the other hand if Shorty keeps going in Ukraine, we might have a scorched earth problem in 2 or 3 months and gas will be the least of the problems.

Just ran to town, station closest to me was $4.09 for diesel so I said I don't think so and went to town. I was there about an hour and the station I use there was $4.19, dang, so I figure I will hit the one closest to home on the way back, at least it was cheaper, I pull in at it flips to $4.35. Pi** me off. I am not rich and have places to go and poor mileage.

They lose lots of value once they get 100k on them. Bought this one with 117k, and don't even care. I have never paid someone to service anything, truck, tractor, skid steer. But the thought of trying to get under this sickens me. Buddy of mine has another friend with a service shop up the road. Probably will drop it off and say "change oil, filter, fuel filter, air filter, call me when you're done. And I agree, 300,000 is quite possible for these, so I've been told.

That’s what they want you to think. Inflation is realistically over 12%. I’m in the down stream sector and work for a major. We have a turnaround coming up and we have to cut so much scope because we can’t buy material like aluminum piping. I literally told one vendor I’d pay him 300% over asking price for what we needed and he said it just isn’t available. So when companies with pockets like Chevron can’t buy there way out of material shortages. Houston we have a major problem.

The city budgeted 2.75 p/gal for gas for our patrol vehicles. At this point, we are sustainable but if it goes much higher we'll be patrolling from the PD or another central parking lot. Strictly reactive and not proactive.

This was mine today. Truck normally takes 31-32 gallons but the pump cut me off at $100. [censored] is gonna suck when it doubles per gallon.
Like I said in the other thread wish I would have had another Biden sticker to “refresh” the pump.
I can send you some....I have hundreds.

Gas stations need to change the $100 limit on pumps. I couldn't fill my truck up for that before this craziness. Now you'll only be able to put in half a tank before it shuts off.

Actually it has.
Everything is going up. Needed a bag of dog food, so stopped by Petco. The 47 pound bags of the brand we use has gone from $69.00 to 79.00.
I went to Canton Saturday, and a few vendors I spoke with said they don’t know if they’ll be able to stay in business. Key factors for them were cost of materials and fuel.
Maybe I’m being too pessimistic, but I told my wife that if gas reaches $5.00, which I think it will, we could see all hell break lose as a society. Even more so than we’ve seen the last few years. I hope I’m wrong.

Corn is up but not stupid. Northern Hemisphere is already cut, so it's really just speculation on how much gets planted.
With that said if corn is really high going in to April/May be a lot more grown in the US, to take advantage of high future contracts.

When it hits $5/gal (it's going to for sure) I'll start working from home. I'll come into the office 1x a week. Boss can take it or leave it - or give me a raise. I commute ~150 miles round trip per day. 100% of my job can be done remotely...we'll see what happens.
I'm also in the O&G industry.

The sec. of energy sounds like the Louisiana politicians years ago whenever they were trying to get the lottery voted in. They told the constituents that all gambling proceeds would go to education. They neglected to tell the whole story; all of the proceeds do indeed go to the education funds, the politicians just took that same amount out of the education funds and put it in the general treasury.
They told you enough to get you to believe that the educational funds would increase by whatever revenues came in from gambling.
Same with sec of energy. Sure solar and wind are the cheapest there is, but that’s not even close to the rest of the information that you need to make a wise decision

Maybe, but we will be going from 10 buyers per truck to 5 buyers per truck. I doubt we will see it as availability or reduced price.
Clearly I made those numbers up but I think they’re fair.

Diesel 5.19 here in Lindale. Regular $4.
I'm trading my diesel truck in. Was originally planning to buy a smaller truck but think I will wait a while to see how all this goes. I'm thinking of looking for a motorcycle.

Lots of them. Been trying to talk my wife into letting me get one. Got cash to pay for it tomorrow if she’s say yes. But it’s a big negative she is scared to death of them. Afraid I’d kill myself on one. She is probably right with all the [censored] drivers out there.

Yeah, me too. No way I would drive one around here. I was just wondering if bikes had dried up as much as cars. If you own a bike you should have to fill out an organ donor card...

These people live in an alternate dimension or they lining thier pockets.
What is the real carbon footprint of going "green"? This will require building products with a limited life cycle that are not recyclable and will be here after the second coming. I am not saying it is not possible, I just have no confidence in leadership who debate inoffensive pronouns.

The amount of infrastructure required for their crack pipe dream would take decades if not longer. It’s all a sham.

Why anyone would support these liberal ideologies is beyond me? This is absolutely wiping out a ton of discretionary income and that ain’t good for the economy.

According to either Princeton or Brown University
It’s a 100-1 physical footprint difference. Renewable vs petro/ng
For the US to run solely on Renewable, the actual physical footprint would be basically the state of Texas being filled by the square inch with solar and wind. Displacing 35 mil citizens and probably 10 mil undocumented. No turkeys, no trees, no deer, no wildlife

We can just keep burning coal and petroleum products to provide the electricity to power our electric cars and pretend that we’re better people for it, just like the current electric car owners are already doing.

For those buying cars to park your trucks and save on gas…
You pay $10-$30K to save $50ish per tank of fuel.
This math doesn’t really add up for me. Gonna take a long time before you realize any savings on that.

This morning on my way to work, 4 lane divided hwy with 70 mph speed limit, I was in the slow lane at a stop light with 4 cars behind me fast lane empty. I took off slower than molasses in January and topped out at 60 mph… nobody passed me or even tailgated.
My baby diesel arrived at work this morning with 30.7 mpg on the lie-o-meter, it’s usually about 2 mpg high though. A little over 200 miles on the tank so far and distance to empty is still over 600, with the little tank, 26 gal.

Re: what are you going to do at 8-10 dollar gas?????? - 03/19/22 06:34 PM
In the last week we drove from Tx, through Okla and into Ark. No detail research but seemed in Tx it was around $4. Okla was definitely a little cheaper and in Ark it seemed even less. I paid 3.45 in Eureka Springs. When we got back to TX is seemed to be about 20cents cheaper than when we left. In Tyler I saw 3.82 on one corner and 3.58 on another. That 3.58 seemed really low so maybe a gimmick. Thats all just from glancing at prices as we drove and making mental notes.

Paid $4.69 for diesel at Luling Bucees on Thursday afternoon. It was $4.89 when we stopped there that morning for a cup of coffee and kolaches. Saw it as high as $5.15 on I-10 on the way to Houston that day.

10k pound, 4WD, Cummins, four door, flatbed, Laramie package, 135,000 miles on it. Tires, brakes, filters, oil, fuel. It all adds up. I especially do not need all that truck to keep just taking me to the fire station and back. Which is a 124 mile round trip. I've got 4.5 to 9 years left to go.
Basically, I am now saving fuel, maintenance cost, tires, and keeping miles off a truck. Plus reduce the risk of someone totaling it. I do not want to replace it. What is the equivalent truck in 2022 prices, $80,000? Mine is paid off, I'd just like to keep it that way.
