In the late 1930’s, everybody looked the other way for a time when Hitler started taking countries. Was that a good decision or a bad decision? I don’t know, and they didn’t know back then either. One thing I believe you can count on is that a look-the-other-way approach to the current Ukraine invasion will definitely lead to China taking Taiwan. Then the Russians will start on their Soviet Union rebuild.

So…what is the proper approach here? Do we start a shooting war with Russia? If that was ever an option, we’d have had troops in the Ukraine long ago. It’s too late now. Ukraine isn’t in NATO, so we are not duty bound to defend them.

I just flat do not see a viable approach here, other than plan ahead for the next countries Putin wants. As for Taiwan…?

For sure i am not advocating going to war right now nor sending in troops on the ground. But we have a crap ton of abilities outside of troops on the ground that can cripple the Russians quite quickly. This is no vietnam or korea, and had we fought those wars to win we wouldn’t have those situations still ongoing. Same with iraq and afghanistan. We played politics over military might and didn’t want to take over a country but rather allow tribes to try and become a country. Was never going to happen. Politics has ruined the work of the US military. Having said that, when iraq invaded kuwait we didnt just sanction iraq and wait for iraq to invade elsewhere, we kicked the crap out of iraq all the way back to bagdhad and then gave them their country back. We could do the same to russia with no troops on the ground if we wanted to right now.

The bigger issue is we watch this go down and just do sanctions and that will not only embolden putin but give the greenlight for Xi to take what he feels is his rightful kingdom and we will watch as the world map changes. Not a good position. There is some wisdom to the rand paul approach, but there is a lot more long term stability and security in having a big stick and waving it around a little, and cracking it on fingers that try to get into the cookie jar.

And just for reference, more american teens die in driving accidents every 2.5 years than the whole iraq and afghanistan campaign combined (over 20 years). In fact over 3 times that died in service have died by suicide once they returned to the us. One could attribute some of those deaths to feelings of uselessness and hopelessness when their efforts were nullified by political actions to give back what they watched people die doing. Anyway, i digress…

I would shut the borders before I walked away from swearing in. Border Patrol and Homeland would be cut loose to do their job. If you are caught bringing hard narcotics in you are going to prison, hard labor for a long long time. I would put hardcore judges everywhere I could and pressure lefty judges to step down.

Military pay would be doubled to start with and we would take it from there.

All of the idiotic anti drilling would be out the window, right after I shut the borders. I would purge OPM and once that was cleaned up we would start with the FBI, DEA, and other alphabet agencies. IRS would be tasked with a fine tooth comb approach to auditing Senators and HOR peoples financial history. Bribery would get you life in jail for the 1st offense.

Let them have their way, BUT choke out their pipeline and reopen our drilling and energy sector at home full effing bore, making us again not only self-sufficient energywise, but being a net exporter and able to handle the Euro countries who would need it since Vlad is now out of business. Not only that, but it will really help the US economy and its citizens, especially the middle class. But they don't care a lick about that.

Much of this was brought on because Biden played right into his hands by shutting down our energy due to pressure from the greenies, leaving Putin as the main energy magnate on the planet and rich as hell. Just an example of what isolationist policies and actions will get you, now russia is threatening sweden and finland if they attempt to join nato there will be severe military repercussions.

There are times to be isolationist, and times when you need to step up and fight back. Putin is a schoolyard bully and he is picking on the little kids. There is no teacher or principal to put this to a stop, so someone needs to step up before he beats up the whole schoolyard.

When it is the little kid on the block trying to grow out of his britches thats when you can just sit back and watch them get kicked in the teeth a few times, but this putin has some muscle and can handle his own. He can not be dealt with by isolation. Our isolationist policies just embolden him.

I would say either stay out of things and mind our own business or go all in when it comes to foreign affairs. I think half way doing things is a waste.
