I'm no snob, been drinking Clyde Mays lately.
Good stuff.
Yes it’s good but, unfortunately it’s not distilled in Alabama. They are just another Non Distilling Producer (NDP) or sourced whiskey.
The article Simple searcher posted is somewhat incomplete.
The head distiller has to remain the same during that four year period and in case you missed it Colonel Taylor of the famous E H Taylor whiskey was instrumental in getting the laws passed to create bottled in bond whiskey.
My personal favorite BIB is Taylor small batch but it’s $50 with tax and that’s if your lucky enough to find it at retail. Henry Mckenna BIB is inconsistent the last few years but, I have not personally found a bad bottle.
I’ll add that anyone interested in knocking Evan Williams BIB, I’ll be happy to provide the whiskeys to prove you wrong in a double blind side by side comparison. My “black bag full of whiskey” is starting to become popular.
.
Now, if you read all that..... most of the whiskeys named above can’t truly be considered because they are not on the shelf of the liquor store 99 times out of 100 visits. Before you ask the question yes... I hit liquor stores multiple times a week.
If your still reading this Evan Williams BIB is your clear leader in this category, good, inexpensive and always on the shelf.
