Does It annoy you….

When you respond to a wtb ad in the classifieds and get ignored? Is It too much to say “thanks for the offer but I’ll pass”?

You would think that I'll take it means just that but that is not true too it seems.

Yes. Common courtesy is the worst part of buying and selling things anywhere online. I was selling some things locally on Facebook marketplace and I got a half dozen replies of “is this still available?” I instantly reply back and crickets.

Are you talking about on this forum? Or elsewhere? Yes, it's annoying as hell. I've encountered it often, but never here.

Yep here. Happens to me often.

For example, some one posted yesterday looking for some ammo. Within minutes I PM with a picture of the ammo I have, my price, and my phone number. It was read but never a reply.

Odd. I've never had it happen here. I've always at least recieved a no thanks.

I know one thing. If I tell Cbump do be at the DQ in Gainesville at 2pm he shows up at 1:58 and I had just backed into the spot. We were both in a hurry but you know the good ones to deal with it seems.

If you tell ol thumper you will be there at 11am and run inside tractor supply he shows up on time too. I told him I would be early and he was on time.

I not a fan of the Trading Post section on the THF. You have way too many people selling stuff for other people, Prices in general tend to be high or overpriced.

I have never sold one thing, not even a give away item on TFF, while on THF I cant respond fast enough to most reasonably priced items Ive sold.

Only listed a couple of things for sale on here, no problem.

Did have a BS experience on FB web site where I was the first to respond one early Sunday morning on a great deal for an almost new great looking leather sleeper sofa that had never been slept on plastic still on. (kids with their friend's sleepovers wore ours out).

The person said it was available, I immediately responded that I would buy it. They replied it is mine when can I pick it up?
I replied as soon as I can get my brother to help me load it, should be no later than 12. They replied I could pick it up by 10:45 am or between 1:30 -3:00 and to please confirm that I will pick it up.

I replied Confirmed that I am 100% certain I will pick it up at1:30 what is your address? She replied okay but if I no show it would become first available.
Again I respond I will be there at 1:30 what is the address?

Did not hear back from her so at 1:15 I sent another response on when and where, nothing?? Sent several more and around 2:45 she responds it has already been picked up and she told me it was first come first serve!

Yes I gave her a peace of my mind on how she wasted most of my day then shared with her that a person is only s good as their word and her word was Chit

Any website that has a classifieds, section for trade, etc. Should always have a third party check out option provided by the original hosting party to avoid these situations. It should be just a simple as uploading a picture or posting a poll. Uses paypal, cashapp, venmo, etc redirection for the backend financial part, hosting website charges a 1-3% fee to cover cost of said add-on and terms/conditions waive complete liability. Seller is obviously liable for said product based upon legal value statures of theft, and buyer can cancel in 24 hrs with said restocking fee etc.

That would cover 99% of the first come first serve comments, and alot of the I will take it PM, that then later next day leave you on read.

Saying that, this website is great about people keeping their word, but like craigslist, some local ones on apps, etc. Tire kickers, wasting time.


---- One time I broke my wrist and was completely jacked up on pain killers and Jack Daniels and bought 3k dollar AR-10 on this website. Next day, get a call and guy is like still wanna meet in Greeneville, and I had no idea what he was talking about. My pet peeve is someone PMing me and needing more info I call them and they either don't answer or phone goes to voice mail. You know they have their phone in their hand!

I answer all legitimate messages as best I can….I often do not answer people who fail to recognize requests such as “will not sell separately”, “no low-balls”, etc..

at one point I was spending over 6 figures quarterly with UPS for shipping, and my local rep left me on read in text, and I switched everything over to FedEx, solely based off that.

A simple "let me get back to you" could of saved my business, never hurts just to say you acknowledge them

The internet insulates everyone from treating people the way one normally would face to face. Many have never known a world without it. That said, all of my experiences on this sight have been good. Even the guy that sold one of his family guns to me (I didn't know it at the time), and had to buy it back after I had made some repairs. He was honest about it, and paid the difference I was out. Stuff happens.

I sent an email to a guy wanting to rehome a dog that my wife thought she wanted. I asked 6-8 questions wanting to know the story on the dog, left my phone number and told them if they preferred to talk to call me. I've heard nothing in 3 days...seems they really didn't want to get rid of the dog

Funny thing is, I wasn't sure I am ready for one yet and I'm not pushing...but rest assured, whichever dog ends up at our house has hit the lotto, when I die...I want to come back as one of my wife's dogs

Only one buyer has ghosted me here and he's done it twice. Fool me once, shame on you, twice shame on me I guess.

Some forums require a buyer to post "I will take it" and some don't. If there is an item for sale here (where there is no such rule I know of) and a member only sends a PM without a comment and does so before an I'll take it is posted, the seller should be able to take that sale...but should post SPF ASAP. Some people don't want the whole world to know what they agreed to buy.

I have had many good selling and buying experiences here.
