Looking at getting the Husquvarna 440 or the Stihl Farm Boss MS271. Both with 18” bar

Stilhl is ALWAYS the first answer.
I have 5 (two stroke) pieces of equipment. Every one of them is Stihl. One is 20 years old.

Exactly the same, 5 pieces and the oldest is a 20 year old Farm Boss.

I am in market for another chainsaw and this is the decision I have been facing as well and stihl is getting my money on the farm boss and I’ll be going 20 inch bar
I have a proulan that is 42cc ( was a gift and been great but got some bigger trees) so I’m upgrading to 50cc

Just go find an older Husqvarna 55 Rancher.

I have a Stihl Farm Boss I bought in 1991 when I started a house in the country. To be that old it is pretty low time, but works when I need it.

I purchased a husquvarna commercial saw 3 years ago. It was very enticing because of the weight to power ratio. I sold it a couple of months ago and went back to stihl. Both saws are good, but the husqvarna was just a little pickier for me.

I was a Stihl fan until they put out saws with snap caps instead of screw in caps. I bought one that was no good and sent it in for repair. The repair guy told me I had messed it up. No I didn’t.
Local hardware store quit selling Stihl saws due to the snap caps and Stihl not backing the bad product.
Echo for me now. I have 3 with no problems.

I have some saws that are right at 40 years old and still running. (I've re-ringed some of them and lots of carb kits over the years).

I used to have one and imho the 271 is a tad under powered with a 18” bar. I would up the saw size one. I have many hours clearing land with the exact same and the pro version of that saw
I chose stihl although I do have a stihl leaf blower that’s a POS but it’s the only stihl I’ve had that’s a POS

I have a Husqvarna from 1994 and it still starts on the first pull. I keep Sea Foam in it and have replaced the bar once. Dont know about the newer ones. I think the market share is with Stihl.

I have two Stihl chainsaws. The oldest one I found on the highway where it curves between Hobbs and Rotan, 10 years ago. It was older and laying in the middle of the road. It fired right up and is still running today.

I have to say that if my Stihl thrashed tomorrow I would go Echo. It is a local shop thing. It is where I bought my Skagg Zero Turn and an Echo weedeater. I know them, great service, etc. My 93 year old dad-in-law has an echo chain saw and all other two stroke oil burners and swears by them. The shop owner where I bought my Stilhl is a few years older than me and retired. It's all about the shop and service with any of this stuff anymore.
Stihl or echo flip a coin
On a really discounted price -Husqvarna
My echo is less CC then my husqvarna and whoops it's [censored].
Now chain quality is no contest stihl by a million miles. No comparison. Only buy stilhl chains.

If you choose Husqvarna like I do pay attention. The made in Canada units are just rebranded Poulan Pro. The units made In Sweden are their tried and true reliable saws.

Yes!!!! Those caps or trash, takes me more time to close them than to put gas and oil in

Echo
They are 94% of Stihl quality at 71% of the price.
Just say no to snap caps too.

I have owned both. Stihl is by far the best.

Stihl commercial saws all the way but the caps do suck to the fullest extent of sucking abilities..

My family business is equipment rental. My brothers have stopped running Stihls in favor of the Husqvarna, much to my surprise. The new Stihl's are made in China as opposed to Virginia Beach like the old ones were.
My wife gave me Stihl Farm Boss for my birthday a few years back. I could tell right away the quality wasn't what it once was.

Echo would be equivalent to a sthl
I do like my husqvarna mower and weed eater but they are a step below sthl and echo

Husqvarna pro saw. We have 3 and all are beasts to cut with.
Loggers up here use the Husq. pro saws.

Probably Stihl or Echo.
Echo Timberwolf over either of those, IMO.
