Aftermarket Wheels install

Aftermarket Wheels install - 10/19/21 03:41 PM

So those of you who swapped your OEM Rims for some Expensive Aftermarket wheels. If you bought them mail order, who put them on for you? Did you trust them not to booger up your $3500 wheels??

Looking for a place which uses the Hunter Touchless tire mounting equipment. There are only a few in the area.

Re: Aftermarket Wheels install - 10/19/21 03:59 PM

I had Discount Tire Direct mount some very high dollar Budnik's for my car, no problem, Mgr actually did them himself. A picture of each when you drop them off and a conversation with the Mgr on your concern should suffice. Firestone has done all of my/son's custom truck wheels with no problem. Most of the larger chains have pretty good equipment for productivity and liability reduction reasons.

$3,500.... must be some pretty big and wide hoopties you have there.

No comment on the wheels… but Freddy Trochez w/ Go Mobile DFW Tires is who you seek.

I've always heard that you have to do it yourself if you want it done right. That one time handling that I mentioned surly does apply here. A place for everything and everything in its place. The place is the hub.

$3500 wheels...wow!

My 5 Jeep wheels were 1/3 that price, so I let Discount put them on along with the 35" BFGs that I bought from them. No issues at all for me, but then again, I have never heard of "Hunter Touchless tire mounting equipment".

Please, please tell me no one out there would be putting four $875 wheels they are fearful of marring on a pickup truck. Please tell me this cannot be.

Would said truck then get a nickname, say, Cream Puff?

Just order online from https://www.customwheeloffset.com/ and they will come mounted & balanced with the correct lug nuts, you just bolt them on. Be sure to buy the proper hub centric rings if the new wheels are bolt centric.

Exactly what I did and couldn’t be happier with the transaction, they beat everyone’s price when I was looking.

THIS IS NOT MY TRUCK

The wheels are NOT for my truck

They are coming from Europe, like most

I love Bandera but I bet there a a bunch of rides like this if you look hard enough. They don't wear pink but they do have needle pointed cowboy boots with Sterling Silver tips and would cut your throat for making fun of their wheels, just saying Gringo.

Thanks, I'll look them up. I looked really hard at a Plaid but didn't want to wait. Besides being outside my budget. That's a bad vehicle.

Buzz my brother & I owned & operated a tire & wheel business. Tires/wheels/trailer parts/trailer rebuilds/minor mechanical work etc. Had the largest in stock inventory of new tires & wheels in the region at that time. Different tire machines are used for different things. Almost all tire shops out there anywhere in the State today, have tire machines that will not scratch or blemish ANY new wheels. If the folks in charge make sure the protective boots on the tools are in proper shape and there is plenty of lube, and they know how to handle stiff thin wall tires without damaging the TIRE or the rim, you're good.

Just take them to Discount Tire, or a Mom & Pop's that you trust (sounds like you don't have one). They will do you right. I can tell you from experience it's a whole lot easier to damage a tire than a wheel.
