No monster trucks back then
The ones like they have today didn't exist yet
There were some 4WD trucks that pulled, but
they were regular bodied trucks that you probably
could have changed tires and street driven them.
One of them might have done that but I can't remember.
Been like 40 or so years ago
IIRC the winning tractor was a single engine job

Have no idea yet. Hopefully he can make it to a few different ones by then and have it totally done. He's ready for sure lol.

Many moons ago Bob Harlow, Odessa Texas, had the Southwest Pulling Championship locked up for several years. 80's and 90's. Had a 4500 horsepower single engine V12 , twin turbo and supercharged Allison Modified Tractor and pulled all over. 9500 and 10500 classes. He pulled against the multi engine V8 Tractors. Also had a twin engine Allison that dynoed over 9000 hp. Pulled it on the East Coast. He was big time.

I’d get it working and leave it as is for a couple years, the old codgers at those Tractor Shows love them in that condition and you’d be surprised who starts offering their parts when they find out a young kid is involved with it.

Probably 20 years before then
Just about the same period that Rick Flair and Kerry
Von Erich had the match there that Freebird Michael
Hayes was the special referee, and the Von Erich/Freebirds
feud started. Early/mid 1980's somewhere in there

Whitewright Tx has some very good tractor pulls in June every year. Been going on for many years. It is a sanctioned pull the big boys come from all over !

They are cool...there an older video where the weight hits the front of the sled and the old steam tractor proceeds to Plow with the sled, all the way to the end of the track.

I'm pretty sure in the video above they are feeding the firebox with crushed walnut hulls to make the sparks for a big show. I've seen crushed walnuts used to clean the inside of a gas fired turbine engine and it blew embers like that.
