Where are the troopers?

Where are the troopers? - 06/18/21 02:43 PM

I run Lubbock to Goldthwaite and back quite frequently. I think I paid for most of 153 in Nolan county over the years thanks to a heavy foot. However, over the last 5-10 years, I see hardly any troopers working anymore. 153, 84, I20-if I see one trooper actually working it's a surprise. Are they busy working wrecks and other stuff? I know we still have troopers but they don't seem to be doing speed enforcement much. How much of that is due to the 75mph limit?

I think most of them are currently deployed along the border to help with the influx of people coming across.

Border deployments are definitely affecting manpower in their assigned areas. Add to that they are dealing with the same problem every other law enforcement agency is trying to hire for open positions. With the current environment, it's amazing that anyone would want to get into LE right now.

We went to Fort Worth last weekend, left Saturday morning, came home Sunday afternoon. Saw one trooper on Sunday. Usually see several.

Can't ever take a day off when you're riding fence.

We went the opposite way last weekend. DFW - Cisco. We too only saw 1 trooper and that was on the way back home. I usually only drive 3- 5mph over so doesn't matter to me.

Very few cops working traffic anywhere.

But I don’t drive much.

So, their focusing on illegal immigration instead of people doing 10 over? That’s the best news I’ve heard in months. I hope they catch all of them.

It sucks. They are spending 12-14 days a month down on the border....in shifts of 12-14 hour days.....after a 10 hour drive to get down there and back(from some parts of Texas).

If the governor would call out the National Guard(weekend warrior citizens, voters) to handle this job there would be a loud enough out cry that the politicians in Washington would take notice.

I was pleased to hear that the Florida governor is offering man power to help with securing the boarder.

I got a level DOT inspection Thursday by one and come drive I-10 between Beaumont and Houston and you'll see plenty.

He forgot to say which level. I’m guessing a level 2.
