Drove through here this weekend, driest desert ever and then these random areas with planted trees. Very green, I think pecan trees. What say you ?

I will go with pecan orchards, New Mexico has become one of the major pecan producing states. The pic looks like the orchards near Roswell and the orchards near Carlsbad. I know that Las Cruces also has some large pecan acreage.

I’ve seen those trees many times. I believe they’re pistachios.

The pistachio trees are not as bushy they are smaller and a slightly lighter green color. There are several large pistachio farms in the Tularosa area that we stop at when we go to Alamogordo.

I drove by a huge farm off the west side of 25 south of Las Cruces while traveling for my last employer. Can’t remember if it was pistachio or almond though.

That big orchard south of Las Cruces is the Stahman Farm, they have thousands of acres of pecan trees. It has been awhile since we were there, but at the time it was the largest producer of pecans in that area. I believe they started that operation before WWII.

I was on I-10 so it was probably near Las Cruces but there were several along the interstate in both states

Looks as if we will not have any pecan webworms this year, so I will still be guessing.

Not sure where they are going to get the water to irrigate them. The west is in a serious drought.

Pecans.
They pump groundwater.

Not an alien. It's an albino iguana.

Dove hunted out around Yuma and they had Orange groves, the whole area is covered in irrigation canals. In fact my brother an I drove into one early one morning going out to hunt.
