lowes
So i bought a new Craftsman gas powered leaf blower back first part of this year from lowes.. Put it together, cranked it and then didnt use it until maybe a month or so ago and only 4-5 times max... Last week i got it out, and it wouldnt start.. I put fresh gas in, new spark pkug, cleaned the carb (which it was clean).. and still nothing and in the midst of trying to start it, the stupid pull cord broke in half...
So i called Craftsman and they said ti was actually made by MTD so i had to call MTD and they passed me on to ANOTHER company and i have yet to hear back from. So i have a brand new leaf blower that doesnt work. Yes i could take it to a shop and have it worked on, but not under warranty...
I called Lowes and since it is out of their 30 day return policy they said there is nothing they can do...
Kinda crappy all the way around.. Any ideas?
Buy a new one, put old one in box then return it.......

We bought some faux wood blinds from Wal-Mart in Humble and took them to the ranch house in Junction. Got there and the box was full of cut up old mini-blinds. Took it back to the Wally World in Kerrville and told them what happened. They didn't raise an eyebrow and exchanged them.

Im pretty sure Poulan(now owned by Husqvarna as a low end residential brand) makes the blowers for Craftsman.
So that explains it.
Hate to be that guy, but buy a Stihl. You get what you pay for.

Are you using the pre-mix fuel ?
I have not had any trouble with any of my 2-stroke equipment since using the pre-mix.

yes
Just clean the carb, easy to do and it will start righ up. It's a weedeater!
I was headed to the lease and forgot my weed eater power head I use for my clearing saw to cut small stuff or stuff my shreader just knocks over. Stopped at Lowes and bought a Craftsman power head, the larger CC, not the small one. It wouldn't run for crap. I bought special tool on amazon for a few bucks to adjust the carb and it ran like a house a fire. I was impressed, it ran really strong and would spin that saw blade for my clearing saw really good. Then I bounced it out of the bucket of my tractor and ran over it my shreader!!!! Not much left of it.

Have you checked to see if it has spark?
Remove the plug put it into the plug wire ground elcectrode to the block/head and turn engine over. You should be able to see spark jump the gap. When you were cranking it did it smell like gas after a while?

X5
This and use non ethanol fuel, it works night and day better in small engines due to it not going bad as quick and it helps the tiny motors fire up better after sitting. It has a shelf life double that of E10 which is normal crappy gas..

Not a leaf blower, but I’ve gone through 3 Craftsman 4 cycle weed eaters in 3 years. The last one lasted 38 days and at first Lowe’s refused to take it back. Everyone one of the weed eaters seized up. First they said “it has gas in it and we can’t take it back”. To which I responded “I’ll take it out to the parking lot and pour it out”. To which they responded “you can’t do that”. The manager who wasn’t happy with me finally said they’d refund my money. Customer Service rep then proceeds to say “it’s been 38 days and we only provide refunds for items less than 30 days old”. I told her to get her manager again and after some back and forth they finally took it back. Don’t ever buy any Craftsman lawn equipment.

I have had similar issues. If you go talk to someone in the store, they will usually let you replace it. I have done it with Home Depot when I get a dud product.

Lowe's bought the name, not the quality. I remember when Craftsman meant quality when it was part of the Sears empire.

Echo
The first two gas blowers that I purchased as a homeowner in the early 2000s were Craftsman. They had a pretty decent warranty on them. The 1st failed within 2 years and I returned it to Sears and got a new one. The 2nd one failed just after two years and Sears wouldn't take it because was outside the warranty period. That was around 2006 or so. Wasn't going to get screwed again, so I spent the money and got a Stihl. That same blower is still going very strong after 15 years of weekly use.
I have had good luck with other Craftsman products, but not the blowers.
I have had really good luck with my 56v Echo blower.

Yes and Yes. Sad what became of Sears and Montgomery Ward.
