Diesel fuel color - yellow

Diesel fuel color - yellow - 05/20/21 01:23 AM

Depends on where I buy the diesel, but the last batch I put into 5 gallon cans is bright yellow. That seems odd. What are you folks seeing? I guess if you put it into your truck, you won’t notice the color.

I think there is/used to be a different color for ag fuel.

It all depends on where it came from, as long as it’s not red your fine.
I’ve seen clear, green and yellow in the last month.

Red is farm.

Green or mellow yellow for common folk.

Yep. The crystal clear blend always catches my eye. See it mostly at large chain truck stops.

All fuel has a specific color, except for JP4 which is clear. I can't speak to other grades of jet fuel.

JP-8 and Jet A are yellowish, more clear. JP-5 from MCAS Iwakuni was definitely yellow.

We pull from a number of different terminals, depends on who refined it! Mostly clear, green,or yellow! The farm fuel is the same fuel, but with the red dye added!

Yessr, exact same ULSD. It's all about the taxes! When we first started producing ULSD, the red farm diesel was not ULSD...but it's all the same now. A lot of folks don't know that.

And the red dye stays in the tank a long time, so I heard from a friend bolt

When the big freeze came and they allowed dyed diesel to be run on the road I heard of a guy that filled up everything he had with it and continued to run it through April citing he simply didn’t burn it all out in February which was totally legal clap

After returning to on road diesel in his trucks it’s still showing up on the test after 4 tanks of fuel have been run through one of them. Moral to the story is dyed fuel sticks around a long time after you run it roflmao

Does it smell like french fries when you burn it?

Off road equipment and ammo scalpers are the only ones that can legally burn the red.
