In his defense it’s harder to get into a service academy then any Ivy League school, with that said he had to many excuses to make it anyway

My recollection is the main reason some got irritated with him was the fact he was asking for advice to pass physical assessments. Several gave him advice and he seemed to dismiss all of it and come up with one excuse after another. I assumed at the time he was simply showing a level of maturity consistent with most other kids his age (very low).
