Why does the edit button expire?

You can be the O.P. of a thread, and have the ability to edit for a little while, then it goes away.

Selling a list of items, it would be handy to be able to go into the first post and line through items that have sold. Instead, you have to reply to your own thread and say "X" is sold. Which adds to the post count in the Trading Post, which is taboo.

Just a question, J.P.

Pretty sure you can't edit 3 days after posting or 3 days after your last edit.

If its been quoted by another member, I don't think you can edit it then either.

I have noticed it is different depending on the forum, seem like some times it’s like after an hour you cannot edit. I like to just be able to fix grammatical errors when I notice them after a post, or edit to provide more clarity of the point I’m trying to make.

The classifieds have a 30-day edit limit. Threads from the classifieds are archived for a few years in case there are disputes. The edit time limit is a security measure.

A couple of experts told me I used the wrong word on a title. I can't change it.

That's what got me thinking about this.

I didn’t think you could edit a title at all. But I only tried once.

In the classifieds people edit post titles to say SOLD.

Edit feature in general is much longer on the TFF vs THF

Only way to edit a title is to PM a MOD and ask them to do it

Watching college football, drinking beer, and posting, I learned that Budweiser does not make me wiser. I also learned the edit button did not work the next morning...

As long as the edit time has not expired, you can edit a title.

Good info guys. Im kinda old school when it comes to maneuvering around this site and I need all the help I can get. Lots of little "basic" stuff it took me a year or two to learn. I know theres a section somewhere with FAQ or something but some of us could use a whole section of "THF for Dummys."
