Selling a Truck with payments

Selling a Truck with payments - 03/09/21 07:40 PM

Having a baby, and will be selling my Duramax soon. I'm still making payments on it.

That said, how much more involved is it to sell privately with it not being paid off? Any insight, websites, forms, tutorials on if it's no big deal, or a way easier thing with title in hand?

Gonna start seeing which dealer will give me the most straight up or trade as well.

Thank for any help!

It’s easy. Just meet at the bank to do the deal. Or pay a dealership to take care of the paperwork for y’all.

Call your bank, they hold the title and you will have to do what they want.

I'd say easiest to meet at your bank with the new buyer and payoff.

Sold my last motorcycle this way. Met at the bank, in and out in about 30 min.

It also depends on where that title is physically sitting. If the title is with an out of state lender it gets trickier. If you do your sale or trade with a dealer they'll handle everything. If you do a private sale, and the title is in Connecticut, then it could be a little bit of a PIA. If your title is at your personal bank then you and your buyer can go to the bank and get r done.

You're probably already thinking about this, but if you are looking to trade it in on a purchase for a different car, take it to CarMax and get one of their quotes. The last 4 cars I've traded in, CarMax gave me a better price than the initial trade-in offer at the dealership. I showed them the CarMax quote and ever dealership matched it.

Givemethevin.com

Quick, easy, payoff your loan, they'll come pick it up from your driveway, and pay more than carmax.

Sold my last truck to givemethevin.com

I lost my title (they didn't care) and they picked it up from my driveway without even test driving it

Sell it to someone and have a dealer do the paperwork. Quick easy in and out for them and you get top dollar.

I know another person that used them.

Just make sure you're not upside down on the loan. Since it's Duramax you're probably good to go.

Good info. I have been considering this myself. Im a somewhat older guy with an 18 yr olds jacked up truck. Time to think about the fam and get something easier for them climb up in. Maybe a jeep with 10" lift, oh wait...

Thanks y'all. Give me the vin has now popped up multiple times. Is it just like Car Max, where they give me a quote and I have a time frame to accept?

Poppa, it will probably end up here and TFF to start. I've got a couple months before baby comes, so easing into the due diligence phase and deep breaths that my unicorn is leaving. But! It's gonna help our family well, and will live on on the garage wall in a picture.

Its a 2015.5 GMC Sierra 2500HD CC/4x4/Std Bed SLT loaded out and fixing to roll over 68,000 miles.
