Corpus Christi - 02/05/21 03:19 AM

looking for info for me and my wifes "baby moon" either in March/April. Looking for a couple good options to stay, prefer beachfront if possible. Looking also at places to eat, places to visit as well as places to throw some bass tackle at some trout and some reds potentially (on my bucketlist). Being in North Texas for awhile this will be my first time on the coast and with our first child about to be born, we are looking to make it special. Thanks yall

Gulfstream are nice as well as Port Royal Condos in Port Aransas. I'd consider either of these two.

If you want it to be special, I'd look somewhere other that Corpitos.

Yeah, consider Robstown. That would be "special".

I always have a special moment when I leave that area and think about other beaches I could have gone to

Drive like 5 extra hours to Destin/PCB area.

Been there 3 times in the last 10 years and stayed in condos on the island south of Port Aransas and really enjoyed it.
One of the things my daughter and I enjoyed doing was going to the shrimp boat Polly Anna in the morning and getting fresh caught shrimp at great prices and grilling them later.
There are other shrimp boats there also like the Peggy Ann..

Have a great time and Congratulations on your first soon to be healthy baby (boy or girl)? cheers

Some tough love on my hometown growing up but sadly I do agree. Go further south to South Padre Island, nicer beaches for sure or just take it to Fort Walton/Destin, San Destin for the win...Much more to do there.

Sending a pregnant woman into a war zone. Tisk, tisk.

Never been to Corpus and not been hit up by a panhandler. Sad town that tries to act like a city, but is too messed up to ever make it.

We stay at Island House every July, the beach in front of them is a drive through only on golf carts and state vehicles. That time of year will only be snow birds for the most part.

30 minutes up the coast, Rockport/Fulton. Lighthouse Inn, nice small hotel. They have a pier you can fish off of. You can walk to a lot of places and cart rentals are easy.

Appreciate the info, I guess I’ll have to look into Destin area as well. Any recommendations for hotels there?

Not Corpus but Pointe West is awesome. It's on the furthest West point of Galveston Beach at Point Bolivar. Great clubhouse, pool and amenities.

Okay if your willing to travel a little further, a trip that was absolutely to much fun was to Destin.
Left early from Dallas and made it to New Orleans early after noon, had a nice evening in N.O ate well. Got up early putzed around had a good breakfast then took off for Destin.

Several years after that we went to Orange Beach and actually enjoyed it more than Destin, it is a shorter drive also up

Man, you guys are brutal...

For a really (really) good steak, go to The Republic of Texas restaurant.

Less expensive and almost as good is Niko’s Steakhouse.

I like Snoopy’s for casual seafood.

Water Street Oyster House is a more upscale seafood joint.

Padre Island Burger Company has great burgers and brew.

BBQ Man for bbq (duh).

Ginger Cafe for Mediterranean.

Eirinis Gyros & More for low key Greek food.

Grimaldi's Pizzeria for brick oven pizza.

Surfing Crab for crab, shrimp boils.

Kiko's Mexican Food Restaurant & Cantina

Hacienda Vieja

Holler if you need any more info.

Instead of CC....stay at Flour Bluff...it’s a quaint laidback community grin

CC isn't what I think of when I think of beach in the area, Port Aransas, Mustang Island, and Padre Island would be what you should be looking at. Packers channel is an easy place to fish. The jetties at Port Aransas are notorious for losing tackle. You've got to know how to fish it.

I'm with you Adchunts, Water Street is the best for seafood and Snoopys for casual fare and outside view of the causeway. Kiko's is more atmosphere than great food but I remember when the food there was good in the late 70s to early 90s. Friday's Poets was always good Mexican food on the southside of town. I grew up there close to Congressional Dr.
