Just thinking of old times....

was just thinking of one of the things of COVID, no taste or smell. In the early 60s. When i had a sore throat (and mumps were going around) my mom would make me drink the juice of dill piclkles, if you didnt make a face or react, off to the doctor. I know im an old. Just wondering if anybody else remembers doing that?

I think I had the mumps, just on one side though.

I did know whenever I was doing something weird - Mom would leave the Dr. Spock book out on the cedar chest. (He's the loon that later encouraged boys to burn their draft cards. And, a lot of his approaches were completely wrong. ) She was doing the best she could.

I never had to drink pickle juice but my grandmother was a firm believer in Vicks vapor rub. If we were not feeling up to par she'd slather a liberal dose on our chest and some under our nose.

Speaking of old time remedies.
Remember when they use to put Mercurochrome on everything, my grandmother way back in the early 60's had a bottle of some kind of medicine that I swear had Cocaine in it.

I mainly remember castor oil on warts and never chew up a One-a-day vitamin...

Iodine drops., it came in a little bottle bottle and stung like the dickens.

We only drank pickle juice to stave off muscle cramps.

To keep us healthy before a vacation mom would make us drink honey and vinegar....awful, just awful.
