Seems like there’s a few useful tips, but it hardly lays the foundation for success. I’d expect the creator of that sort of content to have more than 26 subscribers, anyway.
YouTube, whether that’s for a hunting channel or any of your other passions, here’s a video in a series that’ll help answer a few questions and give guidance. Avoid some of the mistakes I made

These two posts contradict each other. I see all your posts are youtube links, are you here just for clicks?
They’re not contradictory. I haven’t made money from YouTube. The posts on here were just to help in case anyone was wanting or thinking about starting a channel.
I’ve been using this site for years, only recently have I posted. I’ve used Texas Bowhunter as well and 99.8% of my posts are not shared links from YouTube.

I believe that. I don’t think anyone with 26 subscribers does. They probably don’t give advice on being successful with YouTube, either.
That’s fair, but shallow criticism. Think about this site: advice and recommendations are shared hundreds of times a day from unvetted users. Some have vested interest in the advice they give. Good advice can come from someone without having the accolades...yet.
@Payne, people don’t start hunting channels? People don’t self film? Sure the old-timers aren’t into that kind of thing. But, the key demographic for new hunters is definitely into things like saddle hunting, self filming, and promoting their content on social media.

I’ve been using Texas Hunting Forum and Texas Bowhunter since 2016. I just haven’t had an account or posted on this site.

Re: How do you get into - 01/22/21 12:32 AM
I’ll be honest, that link changed my life
@Payne In the post I mentioned that Texas Hunting Forum was my number 1 external source for views, comments, and likes. If you knew the crowd and thought they weren’t the target audience, I’d said posting here would be useless. But, since I have the data that contradicts that myth, it’s viable to post here. People are interested in the topic and wanting more info about it.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t have clicked on the second link after reading what the post was about.

Re: How do you get into - 01/22/21 12:38 AM
I just clicked on your second vid, it now has twenty nine views. Who are your subscribers?
Posted By: stxranchman
Re: How do you get into - 01/22/21 12:40 AM
I'll be honest, it won't change my life one bit since I did not click on any of the video's and I never will.
There’s no way to know. Users can choose to keep their subscriptions private. I would assume since 60% of my videos are on hunting, they’re hunters.

No offense but why would anyone take advice on how to do something successfully from someone who literally just started doing it and, in terms of subs and views, isn't successful yet?

Are you here just for clicks?
Why yes, yes he is.
He’ll surpass 30 subs before this thread dies.
Dr. Anthony Fauci has more experience, and more education than everyone on this site. You take his advice? He doesn’t give hunting advice, but he does give advice about keeping humans alive. You’re human. I bet you still think he’s full of it
The problem with the argument from authority is that there’s so many holes in that logic.
The video will still be relevant and on YouTube in 5,10,15,20 years. People will still be watching that video, regardless of how many subs I have right now.
I’m not a Saddle Hunting expert. I started using it October of 2020, and yet 260 people from this site watched the video I made about it. I’m sure if they were watching it, they had at least some interest in it. Judging by the watch time, some watched til the end. I have no doubt some even made the decision to purchase or not to purchase it based on my advice.

Re: How do you get into - 01/22/21 01:17 AM
I admire your tenacity and willingness to put yourself out there. Just the same, it’s important to know your limitations, as well as your audience, as Payne mentioned. When you give advice on a subject, people will expect you to back that up with experience. You don’t have that.
YouTube shows 42.3% of views from December 6-Jan 20, 2021 came from Texas Hunting Forum.

Re: How do you get into - 01/22/21 01:20 AM
How is that possible since you joined/starting posting links eight days ago?
The target audience is people wanting to get started on YouTube. I do have experience in that. I started on December 6th and have already had early success. It’s not on the same scale as a 10-15 year channel, but none the less. Success is success. If anything, showing that it’s not an overnight ordeal is actually more relatable to people first starting out.

I don’t agree with it, but its their site. They make the rules. GunTubers like Hickok45, Paul Harrell, and IV8888 have found ways around it and are still successful. They use it as a complement to their entire platform.

You should also learn how to accept constructive criticism.
Constructive criticism would be offering hints to improve video quality or production value. Saying I can’t make a video with solid advice in it because I don’t have credentials is not constructive at all. That’s like saying don’t hunt or give pointers to new hunters unless you’ve killed 45 B&C bucks.

Unfortunately enough olds click on it to make him successful with s... videos
What made it an s video? I don’t agree that it’s a bunch of olds. Of users that share their age, my highest viewing category is 25-34 years old.

Why ask us? We clearly don’t know how to help you.
If someone says the video is bad and can articulate why, that’s an open discussion.
I think enough of you have watched a fair share of YouTube to be able to distinguish a bad video from a good video without making it a personal attack against the speaker because of his “lack of credentials” on a topic.

I see I am to late to warn you that YouTubers don't get warm welcomes on these forums.
Seriously if YouTube is what you want to do then do it, but you better have thick skin. I watched a very well known fishing YouTuber get run off of TFF a few years ago. That same guy has now built a fishing empire from scratch and banking millions while buying toys most of us here only wish we could afford. His products are in just about every Walmart and Academy nation wide and has some of the touring pros pimping his brand now as well. While I don't see that kind of success in your future, I wish you luck with it. Just don't set your expectations to high.
Every YouTube channel eventually refrains from posting on sites like forums and FB. But, that’s because they’ve developed a brand, their subscribers know when they post, and they utilize other features on YouTube that draw in more of a targeted audience. But that’s when they’re well established. When you’re first starting out, this is an effective way to gain traction. I’m not looking to get rich. I’m looking to help people and turn some proficiencies of mine into profit.
Thank you for the insight though, I do appreciate it
Can you articulate why it was bad? Lighting, angles, speech pattern, audio, clear messaging, bad editing etc. ?

So, you’re here for exposure.
are you familiar with the three P’s in marketing?
I want to help people like me, but also I’m working towards an eventual goal. Every YouTuber is. They’re full of it if they act like they don’t want to one day be compensated by their effort and time.

As an oldster I admit I badly underestimated how many people watch youtube. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of kids under 24 dont even watch TV anymore, they just look at social media sites on their phone all day long,Instagram,Twitter, etc.

It’s not a topic that most people here care about. It should be clear that the people beating you up in this thread don’t care about making a YouTube channel. They’re not going to get past that. You want constructive criticism on a video about how to build a brand on YouTube from people who have no interest in it, which they’ve said over and over again. That’s why they think it’s a bad video. (At least some of them.)
This should’ve been a much easier code to crack than how to be successful on the world’s biggest video platform.

Boggles my mind some 8 year old boy has made 22 million $$$ on youtube just by posting videos of himself unboxing and playing with toys. And a 5 year old girl has made 18 million with videos of herself playing with her dad.
Rejection How do you handle Rejection? Lets say you have videos out there and one has 150,464 views 2.4k Thumbs Up - 12,000+ Thumbs Down another that has 392,901 views with 5.7k Thumbs Up - 18,000+ Thumbs Down How would you handle such Rejection?
