There was club on Northwest Highway in the European Village age

Amezia and a club next door Anacoda Club they both sold Extasy at the bar, You order a hit and they put a napkin on the table and put the pill on it.

Back then X was legal you would get flyers on your car in the parking lots of those clubs with guys who would deliver it to you, and their beeper numbers. Good times back then

Dallas was pretty cool place back then

With all the Texxas Jams each summer at the Cotton Bowl.

One year Q102 had a summer weekend party in the late 80's at Dallas City Hall, they covered the concrete in white sand and people were swimming in the fountains and beer was cheap and nobody worried about DWI's , I don't think they had those back then.

Re: remembering dallas in the 70s and 80s - 01/15/21 12:30 PM

Dallas City Limits was a Rock N Roll bar off Northwest Highway, it now a topless bar called "The Lodge"

Every Thursday they had mug night. You buy a mug one time for $5 and then every Thursday that had nickle beer night, it was always packed

there was some nice people up there. I was the rube who went to the Stark CLub dressed with cowboy cut wranglers, wing toed boots and my name on my belt. Had no idea there would be womens in what I thought was the mens room. Found out when a gal came up to me as I was holding a part of me in my hand and she asked, "What you got there big boy?" Of course, she could tell and I guess was just trying to spark an innocent conversation.

J Alfreds. Named after The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot. While going to school this was one of three jobs I held down at the same time. When I walked in to my very first shift to work as a parttime barback/glasswasher/sandwich steamer/peanut shell sweeper, April 14 1974 Easter Sunday, a guy was carrying out a girl over his shoulder with a bunny costume on. My life was completely altered from that day forward.

Mothers Blues was a classic along with Bronco Bowl and Circle Bowl. I remember dad taking us to Bronco Bowl to shoot our Fred Bear recurves. There were other bars in Dallas that we hung out in but don't remember names. One was in Medallion Center. In the early 80s I stuck close to home. There were 2 bars side by side in Richardson off Arapahoe that were my hang outs. I knew the owners and bartenders at both. I just cleaned out and shredded a bunch of old papers and BS I've had for years
One of the things that I tossed was several VIP courtesy cards I got from who
knows where. Playboy club, Penthouse club ( I don't remember that, but I had
the card, so . . .) several other places. Probably one of the vendors from the
good old days when business lunch meant the male sales rep taking you to
the nudie bar for canned pork chops

Thinking of all that, does anyone remember what automotive
vendors had all the attractive female reps that came to visit
dressed in the mini skirts and tight tight low cut silk tops
and the high heeled boots?
Getting old now, and I can't remember what company it was

Junior year of HS (78/79) Taking a pony keg into the Geminii Drive in (Forrest and 75) in the back of a buddy's truck with lawn chairs on a Monday night during the Summer. We got popular real quick.

Stub, you ever run across a guy named Steve Albeck? He was my Big Brother in my Frat at SFA. He started out selling life insurance, got hired by the MJR Corp who owned a few of the places you listed. He ended up buying Don's Showtime , it shared the parking lot with La Bare and Confetti's.

GREAT TIMES

Bronco Bowl. My only experience there was an annual event the company I ran put on. It was called the Multi-Thon. 16 different sporting contest each contestant would enter and be scored. There were track events, swimming, biking, racquet events, pool, shuffle board, darts etc. It lasted over several weeks. One full weekend was at Bronco Bowl and I forget the events but it included bowling, pool, archery, batting cage and not sure what else. About 100 contestants comprised of our employees and vendors--it was a "real big deal". And, no, drinking was not one of the contests but it was allowed.

Since I avoid that entire area like the plague there's not much memory of Dallas after about 1970, But earlier from the late 50's to the 60's we went there quite often, had allot of friends and a few relatives in that area. The Dallas I remember from that period no longer exists. By the time I got out of the ARMY in the early 70's I had already developed a disdain for large cities and crowds.

I have met and Spoken with Steve a few times, that was many moons ago. MJR stood for Mike Murphy, John Woodruff and Robert?
They owned La Bare's the Fare and other places
Do any of these names sound familiar. Don Furr and his son Ricky Furr, Mark, Brent or Randy Dumas, Steve Kraft?

Don Furr use to own several clubs including The Fare. Dons Showtime and the Million Dollar Saloon. Mike Murphy and John Woodruff owned a convenience store on Greenville Ave real close to the Fare.
They sold their Convenience store and bought the Fare, then after that opened La Bare. From what I remember Don Furr was investor/part owner?

The only person mentioned above that I barely knew was Don Furr heard some wild tales about that man though. I knew his son Ricky real good for he was the manager of the club I worked at.

You are so right about good times back then and Penicillin. I remember the first real STD that freaked everyone out was Herpes, Initially you were considered a Lepper if you had it.

I remember when Don Furr got whacked. 22 cal to the temple. Definitely a mob hit. Buddies girlfriend worked at the 'million dollar saloon'. She was inconsolable. Don was a good guy. Seems he was having some issues with vending machine company. If I remember correctly, he fired them and was going to buy his own machines. They didn't like that.

there was some nice people up there.

It was Stark, that wasn't a she.
