He and my grandfather grew up together in West Virginia and I believe were cousins. Here's a pic of both of them home on leave in Huntington, WV taken in 1946. My grandfather, a real Hatfield, is on the left and was stationed on the USS Midway in the Atlantic Fleet after WWII.

Yeager also became an ace in a day flying in Europe. In addition, he was one of the few to shoot down an ME-262.

General Yeager was my wing commander at Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro N.C. in 67-68.. He took 3 fighter squadrons to S. Korea when N. Korea captured the Pueblo. He wanted to make them pay but they would not let him.
