Official Sports watching Post, no haters allowed - 09/15/20 03:05 PM

If you still watch SOME sports, you're safe here. We ALL know most members feelings on the THF about sports games/teams in general and this is GREAT!!!

BUT

I think it's still a free country (barely) and all adults should be able to CHOOSE what to do, watch, buy, etc. I'm also sure 99.9% of the THF Members support the National Anthem, HATE the Black National Anthem and the "movement". (me included)

BUT this is going to be for those who want to still watch sports without being called a communist, and whatever. We KNOW how yall feel, but don't post it HERE.

I wish the Moderators would manage this Thread and try to keep it Civil with no attacks.

Football players suspended from team for carrying Thin Blue, Thin Red lines flags at game

MORROW, Ohio (WKRC) — Some local high school football players are finding that their support for first responders is coming at a huge cost.

The boys are now suspended from their team after not heeding a warning to leave the Thin Blue Line and Thin Red Line flags that represent fallen firefighters and police officers off the field.

When the Little Miami High School football team took the field Friday, Sept. 11, a couple of players carried alongside the American flag a Thin Blue Line and Thin Red Line flags.

“Were you trying to make some kind of a political statement here?” Local 12 asked Brady Williams, a senior cornerback.

“No,” he answered quickly. “Not at all. I was just doing it to honor the people that lost their lives 19 years ago.“

Williams was holding the Thin Blue Line flag as he rushed onto the field Friday. His father is a police officer, and he says he wanted to honor all the cops who lost their lives trying to save others on 9/11.

Jarad Bentley carried the Thin Red Line flag.

“I was all for it,” he said. “Because my dad is a firefighter, and if it had been him killed on 9/11, I would have wanted someone to do it for him.”

The problem is, the boys had asked the school permission prior to the game and they were denied and told if they defied the order, there would be consequences.

“Listen,” Williams said. “I don’t care what my consequences are. Ss long as my message gets across, I’ll be happy.”

Williams and Bentley heard from the athletic director Monday afternoon and received an indefinite suspension. Local 12 had spoken with the superintendent a few hours earlier.

“We can’t have students who decide to do something anyway after they’ve been told that they shouldn’t be doing it,” said Gregory Power.

Power says he saw the flags as symbols of a political point of view and didn’t want to set a precedent.

“We did not want to place ourselves in a circumstance where another family might want a different flag to come out of the tunnel, one that may be [one that] many other families may not agree with from a political perspective,” Power explained.

After Williams’ mother took to Facebook, Power says he is finding a lot of people don’t agree with his point of view and have sent hate emails and voicemails. Williams and his teammates may be finding the benefits of standing up for a cause outweigh the cost.

“I realize that this was more than just a football team; these guys are now my brothers.”

I do not agree with them but I have way more respect for people like Lebron James who are spearheading the athletes BLM thing because he actually stands for something and won't back down. People who say they believe one thing but do something else, especially when they think it is what others around them want to hear, are weak sheep deserving of no respect.

Why just one team? Does it make you feel better about yourself if you say you only watch one team and not all of them?

That's like saying I do not smoke or support smoking and so will only have one cigarette a week.

I have been a huge Dallas Cowboy fan all of my life. To be honest it Pains me that the NFL like most sports has gone down this path for I loved watching my Cowboys. The wife and I are in 100% agreement that No NFL will be watched in our house period.
I also instructed her to get rid of the NFL network and I do not care what other channels I may lose with that package. We have to be strong and send a message to the Networks, NFL and their advertisers that we will not and cannot tolerate their Anti American agenda!

To each his own on watching, but I've said this here before, I've been done with the NFL since Ray Lewis was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2000, and super bowl MVP just less than one year after he had been indicted for two counts of murder. Can take or leave all other professional sports, and I choose to leave.

As BigBob said, sticking with college sports for now, especially my Pokes, but even they are on thin ice...regardless of how much I enjoy the competition and pageantry of the teams, the institutions themselves are being run by a bunch of leftist academicians and fairness has left the building. For the first time in 30 years I did not donate to my alma mater this year, and won't until I see change - which will probably be never.

Oh I agree, I picked him just because he's a big name athlete that I think has been vocal about the BLM group. My point is at least he said this is what I think and wouldn't back down. That is more respectful, even if I disagree with him, than someone who changes what they say they believe whenever it is convenient.

There is a very big difference in DIRECTLY donating or supporting THE BLM organization vs donating to causes that support black communities and simply state that black lives matter (which everyone agrees that they do). Might check your list there on who has actually donated to what - it's a mix of both.

And no - I will not support any business or organization that has directly supported THE BLM - but your list is misleading.

Might check your list there on who has actually donated to what - it's a mix of both.

And no - I will not support any business or organization that has directly supported THE BLM - but your list is misleading.

Great point! Thank you for your perspective.

So why is everyone boycotting the NFL? I can't find where they donated to THE BLM organization....can someone post up a source where they did?

I never stated that the NFL has - however the NFL, MLB, NHL - you name it - pretty much everything with the exception of pro rodeo - has given their employees (players) a public platform to support groups like BLM. Pro sports are entertainment - when politics start getting injected into my entertainment - I'm done. Openly allowing your employees to disrespect the country on the clock? Done. Openly encouraging and allowing your employees to masquerade around with the names of rapists and violent criminals on their helmets and jerseys? Done. Openly allow for your employees to put crap like ACAB on their helmets? Done. Do what you want off the clock - but when an organization injects (or allows) politics on the clock - especially politics that will lead to the death of this nation in short order? Yeaaaa. [censored] that. That's my opinion on it at least. Been done with pro sports long before this - so not much has changed for me. Same reason why I will row a boat across the atlantic before I ever step foot on an American Airlines flight ever again.

I don't go into a business and brow beat them with my politics. I expect the same in return.

I agree and this is the way I feel about it. I'll add the the same NFL would not allow the Cowboys to put the murdered Dallas officers' names on their helmets to honor them, but they will allow this nonsense. I would have felt better about the DPD thing if they told the players now they can't put anything on their helmets either to keep it consistent.
I guess what I'm doing is technically a boycott, but I don't consider it one. I just don't have any interest in watching these thugs anymore. I'm under no illusion that I'm affecting anyone's bottom line and that's not why I'm not watching any games. I just don't want to watch them anymore. It really is that simple for me.

Grizz brings up a great point. The NFL censors what can be expressed. It’s one thing to allow individuals to express themselves. When they decide what may be expressed, and it’s anti-American, then that organization and its supporters are decidedly anti-American. If you watch the NFL, you are supporting them and their anti-American views. Sugar coat it and justify it all you want. You’re anti-American. You’re my enemy.

you have a great point Marc and I see red when I see and hear the things you are talking about.

I agree there is ONLY 1 National Anthem and its for All people not just white people, the blk Anthem is ridiculous and I bet there are a bunch of black people who agree, its stupid.

Cowboys had one guy who kneeled. Listening to Dak Prescott's opinions. I agree with him. I think the main thing we should be worried about is November 3rd. This is the next "D" Day for America. If Trump cant overcome the weak chit the Dems are putting out there, we are sunk as America as we know it.

I don't think me turning on the Cowboy game at kickoff and watching is going to hurt anything. I WILL NOT watch any other NFL games for the reasons you all list. Yes it may sound hypocritical but like you, I got splinters in my AZZ sitting in the Cotton Bowl watching Dandy Don, Bob Lilly, Cheered and cried along with the Cowboys. On to Texas Stadium where I played the drums for Tyler Junior College during the FIRST game played there. I went to every home game, two of their Super Bowls, watched most games on the sidelines through all those games. I got to shake hands with Tom Landry at every home game as the walked off the field and into the locker room before the kick-off. Having him check the starting line ups for any player changes.

Pretty cool history and I'm just not going to stop watching them. I wish it was still like it was back then.

As far as the OT, I enjoy bantering back n forth with most of you guys. A few take it to far with a mean spirit but I realize why, it's their passion of their love of the flag and our great country. Please believe me , no one loves the USA more than me. I get very emotional when I see Patriotic Stuff on TV. During the State Fair of Texas, I would go to the Marine Corps Square and watch the Commandant's own Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and the Silent Drill teams 4:00 show, then walk with them to their sweet drum cadence to the Hall of State for Retreat as the Corp played the national Anthem and the old Casson Cannon was fired as the flag was lowered, JEEEZ, what a great time. I get chills everytime I remember it.

Anyway got off track, God Bless

"It may sound hypocritical"

It doesn't sound that way, it is. Why are you only watching the Cowboys? Does it make you feel better about yourself to say that. If you watch one game you are supporting them no way around it. You look pathetic saying you will ONLY watch the Cowboys.

roflmao Feel better now?

Everyone bow down to the most American guy in the room. He dislikes NFL football and everyone who watches is his enemy. rofl

FWIW, the NFL is a private organization. The great thing about America is an employer can allow anyone to express whatever they want as long as it's legal, or also put restrictions on those employees. Because, you know, this is America. But since it doesn't follow your beliefs it's anti-American? I guess you support "America" as long as it falls within your view......Good thing the Founding Father's didn't share your perspective.

Amazing that some can't see past the nose on their face and recognize the thing they are calling anti-American is because what they are doing is expressing their beliefs. It's comical, and hypocritical.

Yeah, I’ll go out on a limb and say that supporting an organization that condones killing innocent people is anti-American.

The NFL condones killing innocent people? I haven't seen them take that stance.....where did you find that?

Enjoy your football, Doc.

I’m overly cautious with my kids... call me old fashion, but I’m damn sure not posting bikini pics of them up on an unrestricted social media platform with zero viewer restrictions, and then calling some one out on class while standing on a my moral high ground.

GTFO of here with that BS!

Staying in the locker room and not coming onto the field FOR OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM or kneeling because somehow you feel like you have been underprivileged or done wrong....bitch please.

The NFL is just like Facebook now. They censor everything and only approve of things that fit their anti American agenda. If you can't see what's happening now I recommend you reset, like I did. I have always loved football and watching the games, but they can't just play the game anymore. Actors just can't act anymore. Nobody can just do their jobs anymore and STFU. You are entertainers. Your religious or political beliefs don't mean [censored] to me and I don't want to hear them.

My 9 & 6 year old kids can't even watch cartoons anymore because all of the BLM and LGBT commercials on TV. Yes I am discusted and angry. The left NEVER ever keeps their beliefs to themselves. Somehow they feel morally obligated to shove their [censored] in our faces, and I'm getting real tired of it.

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath, relax, and think about what they’re about to post. How about that?

Someone who is overly-cautious about posting their kids on an open forum can surely understand the “context” in which throwing said post in the face of the father in a totally unrelated thread and topic is irrelevant. If you don’t like that someone posted their own kids on a forum because kids shouldn’t be posted or discussed, then that’s the only context that matters. Leave the kids out of it.

But a lot of y’all need to get a grip and relax. It’s freaking embarrassing in here lately.

But that’s not apples and oranges!! bs Listen up geniuses you are directly/indirectly supporting BLM. But you turn the tv on to watch an nfl game you’re a communist.

THF member- “you watched a game, you’re supporting those terrorists even though you didn’t give them any money but you gave them ratings. You ain’t got no backbone. Hey check out my new ford truck”

You sell that brand new Ford truck yet? Take the lead, Mark, show us just how strong you are.

Ouch. If you get down to it, it’s definitely easier to talk the talk than walk the walk...

He ain’t got the cajones to stand behind his word. I sold my ford truck and bought a Chevy. But pitchfork turned off his tv. Who’s more american ?

Chevy wouldn't exist without interference from Obammy. Thary suck too.

I wonder if pitchfork when he helps his clients with stocks, if one is tanking and doing really bad, does he tell the client to stop buying the stock? Or does he tell that client to turn off their tv when they see that stock as to not to support a bad stock. Cuz turning off the tv makes the problem go away

So you sold your Ford which makes money off the NFL so in a round about way indirectly supports BLM to buy a Chevy which is directly supporting big government bail outs taking money directly from tax payers and giving it to failing businesses because they're "to big to fail". Got it... BLM will come and go just like they did after Mike Brown they professional sports players will either shut up and play (do their job) or they'll lose viewership and advertisers will pull out (Ford). Chevy will still have taken a massive bailout from the American tax payers. I'll stick with my Ford, thanks.

Exactly, a lot of these businesses contractually obligated already. If they pull out, not only would they lose a lot of money they'd also be called racist and their plants would probably be fire bombed.

People don’t want rational facts, including those trying to push an agenda, for what ever reason. The JJ watts are a rarity in the NFL, not to many business with more felons and wife beaters then NFL.

A survey of 252 nationally-reported criminal cases in one year that involved athletes found that about 14% (49) of the athletes involved were professional football players. This compared to about 7% (25) professional baseball players and about 6% (twenty-one) of professional basketball and hockey players.

That is a tough one to answer.........tie.........I haven't gone to a movie since late 2015 when I was referred to by numerous actors as a toothless redneck if I voted for Trump........ I never cared about their politics, just wanted to be entertained........if we ever get back to the way it was........you do you, I'll do me.......I would go to movies and sporting events again......

June isn’t wrong for saying it’s no different than not selling your Ford or continuing to buy Coke products, or not cutting the cord (because pro sports leagues benefit from you having ESPN or TNT for the NBA or NFL channel; it’s the same reason ESPN is in trouble with people cutting the cord; they’re making money on you just having ESPN in your cable package). Selling your Raptor is an extreme decision, but it doesn’t mean you’re not supporting Ford, which sponsors the NFL. It’s a reductionist argument, but it’s not wrong. It just shows how silly the entire boycott thing is. Watch or don’t watch, but it would take great lengths for all of us to quit supporting the NFL in anyway, and that’s the hypocrisy of the boycotts. Watching the games doesn’t mean you agree with it anymore than buying products of the NFL’s sponsors mean you support it. That’s June’s entire point, and he is goading some of y’all into this position. If someone goes as far as selling their truck to protest the NFL, more power to you, but the vast majority of people won’t do it, and that’s his point.

Interesting times.

Exactly, a lot of these businesses contractually obligated already. If they pull out, not only would they lose a lot of money they'd also be called racist and their plants would probably be fire bombed.

This further proves his point. So it’s OK that the businesses you continue to support won’t break their contract and waste millions f dollars because they’re contractually obligated to keep their contract, but they’d also be called racist? But the NFL, which employs a lot of black men and pays the millions, should not allow their best players to express their opinions, even though they’d immediately be called racist?

Do you see the hypocrisy? Do you know how many brands would immediately cut the contract and pay millions for the opt out to distance themselves from what would be considered a racist move by the NFL to outlaw kneeling or disallow the players to wear someon’s name on their helmets?

Y’all aren’t seeing the forest for the trees on this issue. I don’t agree with the kneeling, protests or names on the helmets. They’re all misguided. But the NFL is doing exactly what you’re defending the NFL brand sponsors for not doing.

Money trumps all. You’re just selectively defending one over the other and I’m not sure why.

Kyle’s LEGO gif was worth at least a point, Payne. It’s tied up.

A survey of 252 nationally-reported criminal cases in one year that involved athletes found that about 14% (49) of the athletes involved were professional football players. This compared to about 7% (25) professional baseball players and about 6% (twenty-one) of professional basketball and hockey players.
en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki › Athlete...

That’s just one year.....

Those numbers are skewed. There are 53 players on an nfl roster not including practice squad. More ppl on a team vs let’s say basketball or baseball

If they couldn’t get into the military with those records, should they be able to play sports?

Holy lord is that a huge pivot to the discussion.

I can watch a movie without knowing/learning anything about the actors' politics.

If you skip the five minutes before kickoff, there is very little chance you’ll see anyone’s politics. And I agree, I don want to know the politics of athletes, musicians or actors. Or any celebrity, for that matter.
