Chicken pot pie - must have

Chicken pot pie - must have - 09/09/20 10:25 PM

Couple of days ago, we were watching a Hallmark movie and the lead lady actor had a business making pot pies. The wife started making hungry type statements and talking about how she loved chicken pot pies when she was a kid. The next movie had a guy eating a pot pie. And then, almost immediately, there was a tv ad for Cracker Barrel showing a chicken pot pie. Game on. The wife started looking for a close Cracker Barrel. No luck, but the Cotton Patch has them on the menu, and off we went to the nearest Cotton Patch. And we found that that they had just taken the pot pies off the menu. The wife didn’t faint or cuss, but she did wobble a bit.

So, help me out here. What chain joint has pot pies? This is an itch that needs to be scratched. No, she isn’t pregnant. Way too old for that (which I will deny saying).

I said "used to." And I'm old enough to eat what I want to eat and not eat what I don't want to eat!

I loved them until I saw the calorie count after I got married.

I do not do them anymore.

As a kid, my mom bought the frozen ones at Skaggs. I would put down 3 at a time. food

Jason's Deli makes one, but I really can't recommend it. Best I've had in a while is the ones they sell at Central Market in the deli. Very good!

Never made them. Reminds me of chicken and dumplings with a crusty top. May pick up a couple if and when we get a cool down.

Desperation could lead you to Marie Calender's in your grocery freezer section

KFC has them. I have always liked them, Marie Calendar has a good frozen one. I had to give them up, due to low salt diet. bang

Chocolate, lemon, cherry, blueberry. Those are good pies. Taking a chicken and making a pie with it? That is just not right.

Have you tried it Don?

Re: Chicken pot pie - must have - 09/10/20 02:17 AM

I'd rather have Chicken and Dumplings, throw it in a flaky pie crust, I'll eat that too. We can call it Chicken Cobbler. With some mashed potatoes on the side. Gotta keep them carbs up I always say.

I will take pictures of my next one, Wife likes the ones I make, we are sticking to a very low sodium diet so only choice is make your own with homemade crust.

Cracker Barrel they seem to be a seasonal menu item, Boston Market is good, KFC isn't bad.

Went to Cracker Barrel for lunch, and she got the chicken pot pie and pronounced it delicious. She said it had more chicken than the cheap versions, which makes sense.

The itch has been scratched. Thanks for your input.
