Playing In The Creek - 07/08/20 04:49 PM

Do you take your mutts to the creek, river or??

Took Luke to the Creek this morning, he had a blast. Unfortunately I left my wet shoes at the house so we did not cruise as far as I would have liked.

That first step, go on get in!

My wife said that would that creek in Abilene would be a mudhole, and the dog would be dyed red when he got finished.

Re: Playing In The Creek - 07/08/20 06:39 PM

fun times! we bought a small kids wading pool that we keep filled in our back yard for our dog. When she gets hot, she just steps in and stands there. When I take her to the creek/river/lake, she bites at the water, picks up rocks off the bottom with her head fully under similar to the pictures above.

Beautiful spot and a good looking dog! up

The Salado can't be as bad as the Rio Grande in Big Bend (down river from Juarez). I made all 4 kids rinse off in the hot springs...for a while.

Take my Lab to the Guadalupe quite often. Absolutely loves the water.

Re: Playing In The Creek - 07/09/20 12:20 AM

I had a big male lab that would dive to retrieve ducks and geese. A few times I have heard him bark under water'. He was a great dog and I miss him greatly.

Great pics! I’m sure Luke is ready for another swim soon! Our tank is looking a bit icky so my poor dogs are missing out on the fun.

Re: Playing In The Creek - 07/09/20 12:04 PM

Looks like He was a having Fun, Bigtime. My Guy "Hopper" would swim underwater. Go under for 10 to 15 seconds at a time. Grab rocks or whatever and bring it up to you and drop and go for another. Had to scold Him to get Him out and into the truck. Hours at a time if you let Him. Got Him as a Pup. Lived to be 16 years old. This is a pic from the last go around in His life. He's been gone 4 years and still Miss the Big Guy. Dane and Boxer mix. [Linked Image]

Red Oak Creek. It's about 40 miles long. Flows from Cedar Hill down to Bristol where it joins the Trinity to the Gulf.
We live near Ovilla.

Yup mine love a good old walk down to the river. Back of my neighborhood leads into the San Jacinto and we go down there probably 2-3 times a week.

Re: Playing In The Creek - 07/14/20 01:14 AM

Took the boy to the watering hole today. Soon as we got there were two lady ducks with their kiddos swimming around. Once they got the kiddos away one of the momma ducks kept on harassing Luke. She would buzz over him and land about 20' away quacking at him, he would half azz chase her and she would take off, as soon as Luke would turn around to come back that psycho duck would fly right back over him land about 20' in front of him and start the quacking again nuts She wore his azz out laugh
