With all the shutdowns and closings

With all the shutdowns and closings - 03/13/20 04:06 PM

Won’t that just postpone the spread until people get back together?
Granted it may slow the spread now but the virus isn’t just gonna go away.
There will still be transmission at a slower rate and then another bloom after people forced into public because they are starving and out of TP.

It will go away and next fall there will be ample vaccines.

If a million people get sick at once, it would overwhelm the hospital system. If a million people get sick over the next several months, it's just a very busy season. Delaying and spreading it out would be a huge help.

I think at sporting arenas during the time off, they disinfect the bleachers, bathrooms, etc.

Why?? They are saying it only lives a day or two at best on specific surfaces.

I don’t get all the “deep” cleaning stuff when no one will be around those areas for weeks....

I agree. It's an exercise in futility.

Like said above buying time until treatments and vaccines are developed. Keeping people separated long enough for the incubation period to pass should allow identification and quarantine of those who have been exposed till it runs its course is how the Chinese appear to have broke the cycle.
The major difference between corona and flu that many are not factoring into their comparison is vaccination and treatment. Between the flu shot and tamiflu modern medicine has substantially tamed the effects of the flu.

My buddy makes & sells the product. Huge supply issue for the chemicals. Good business for him if he can actually fulfill the orders.

The advice they are giving was the same advice meted out during the 1918 Spanish Influenza pandemic. That one killed millions.
