Time to come clean

Posted By: Texas Dan

Time to come clean - 03/04/20 07:20 PM

While it's common for women to go the extra mile to look younger, it seems men are far less likely to spend money on products and medical procedures to make themselves look younger.

Here's a friendly poll just to see if it's more common than we might believe.

Which of these steps have you taken to look younger and/or to improve your appearance? More than one choice is permitted.

The purpose of the poll is to roughly gauge how many forum members have taken one or more of these steps. Please vote "Other" only if you have taken a step that isn't listed.

There is no intention to single anyone out but only to offer some indication that men can be just as likely to change their appearance as women.

The purpose of the poll isn't to get an idea of how many guys have never taken any of these steps but a totally unscientific number of those who have.

If you've taken some step not shown in the poll, choose "Other".

I have been going grey since I was 25, I'm 90% grey at 40. My nephew asked me why my hair is grey and his daddy's isn't and he's older than me. I told him because his daddy dyes his hair. My brother stopped dying his hair soon after.

I work out. Most of the time I enjoy it, but do it even when I do not want to.

Going under the knife is an option, just not one I have a need for right now.

I have bright white eyebrows and gray hair. I put just enough color into the eyebrows to tone them down a bit. It's hard to tell that I do it ( I use mustache and beard coloring in light brown)

Ha. Then the poll should just ask if you have taken any steps. Yes or No.

Or add taken No steps. Then you can collect some data to determine.

I agree with the post that said this thread is trash worthy.

Obesity affects your health as well as your mobility.

https://www.wvdhhr.org/bph/oehp/obesity/mortality.htm

Section One - Continued
OBESITY AND MORTALITY

According to the National Institutes of Health, obesity and overweight together are the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States, close behind tobacco use (3). An estimated 300,000 deaths per year are due to the obesity epidemic (57).

The results of two extensive studies examining obesity-attributable deaths in the United States were published in 1999. Allison, Fontaine, and Manson et al., reporting in the Journal of the American Medical Society, used data from a number of prospective cohort studies, including the Alameda Community Health Study, the Framingham Heart Study, the Tecumseh Community Health Study, the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study I, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey I Epidemiologic Follow-up Study, and the Nurses’ Health Study, to estimate the number of deaths attributable to obesity in the United States on an annual basis (66). Their initial analyses, which examined deaths occurring among persons aged 18 and older in 1991, were adjusted only for age, sex, and smoking status. The weight categories used were overweight (BMI of 25-29.9), obese (BMI of 30-35), and severely obese (BMI >35).

Same here. None of the above. Artificially trying to look young is a joke. Just look at Burt Reynolds and Kenny Rogers attempts to look younger. Good hygiene and daily exercise is all you need.

No improvements for me. It has taken me a long time to reach 55 so why would I want to look younger? I bet guys who color their hair don't eat beans in their chili and only hunt high fence.

Re: Time to come clean - 03/04/20 11:25 PM

Regardless of the original intent of the poll, they manner in which it is setup does not identify how many members have altered appearance in some way. The way in which the poll is given only shows us a value OF those who have altered appearance, what have they done.

I for one would be much more interested in knowing how many members (percentage wise) have altered their appearance for the betterment of their relations with the opposite sex.

I can honestly say other than dieting I have never altered a thing. However, I am right at 40 years old and have yet to reach a point where I felt the need to look younger or more attractive. That being said, I cant promise that I wouldn't do some altering in the future if I ever felt the necessity....vanity has no bounds smile

I'm a retired instructor who enjoys good classroom discussion. Now I can start more fun and interesting discussions that could never have been made in corporate settings. And in today's world, if some don't find the topic offensive or even insulting, it's most likely boring as well.

The topic brings to mind how I remember all those ads in the back of comic books that we read as kids for all types of tricks and gimmicks. Little did we know our eyes would be drawn to a different set of magazine ads some 50 or 60 years later.

And if you really wanted to know how vain some weirdos are, you should have asked? Who wears makeup, wears tight azz pants, had a tummy tuck, lipo, penal implant, butt tucked, nose job, wax jobs etc...

But what you should have was "None Of The Above up

Most males don’t get surgical procedures/ enhancements, aside from LASIK, lap band or gastric bypass.

A lot of them get on Test. Therapy, HGH, or do stem cell treatment as they age.

Many also try to combat hair loss to some degree, from rogaine to propecia.

For those reading.....if you want to turn yourself into a Eunich fairly quickly....start taking propecia for hair loss

Not to mention, LASIK makes them see better, not look better. Gastric bypass isn’t the same as a boob job or face list. It’s more of a health necessity/last resort.

Wig, plugs, Rogane? Sure, those are ways men make themselves try to look better or younger. Same with spray tan, hair coloring, manscaping, etc.

But the number of men who are getting cosmetic surgery compared to women is minuscule, and I think the percentage of guys here who have is infantile.

I agree with TXtrophy. Just an extremely weird poll.
