Getting car detailed. If you do.

Getting car detailed. If you do. - 02/16/20 05:00 AM

I get my truck detailed at least once a week, 20 bucks with the wheel deal. I have noticed minus the tire shine, the attention the wheels is awful. I cleaned them right after I got home. Do you just accept it and walk away? Complain and make them fix it? I tip heavy as well.

I know they are those boys/girls who wash their vehicles themselves or do not go at all, I get it. Farm truck/ work truck..etc. but my truck pulls my Airstream but is also my office while traveling to OKC, San Antonio, Houston and Austin.

Just added a Aukey Sr02 camera and a A1 Roav, happy with both so far.

I just take care of my stuff. My truck is close,to 3 years old and is mint. That is me
but YMMV.

$20 is a car wash, not a detailing.

I agree. I took my car (not truck) to a car wash place and paid for a detail. It took two hours and cost $100. When I go there normally, it takes $20 and a half hour. The detail was pretty good, but 100 times better than the normal wash and clean they do.

Yep detailed around here is around $100-$130. I wash and detail my car because it’s too low to go through car washes. I have a monthly membership to a car wash for my truck and I run it through all the time. Sometimes 2-3 times in a row depending on how dirty it is. It’s an automated car wash so it doesn’t do a perfect job and needs touch ups but works good enough for my truck.

Agree. They forgot to do an entire wheel (tire shine and everything) the other day on my wife’s jeep and she took it back to get them to do it. I would have too.

Instead of putting the tip in the box, I carry it out to them and give it to them in person. If one guy outworks the other one, he gets more of it. Before I had them anything I’m watching what kind of effort they are putting in. There have been a few times I hand it to them and then say... “hey you got a towel, I want to get this wheel right here”. Every time I’ve ever done that they have taken the towel and did it right.

It's a thing. Just vacuum myself for free and do the $7 wash once or twice a month and wipe down the inside every few weeks. The extra tire clean is never good enough unless you do it yourself. A detail is a $100+ job.

Save $20 and do it yourself.

For $20 I wouldn’t waste my time. Best thing to do is find a car wash that does an ok job, doesn’t tear anything up and doesn’t steal anything....

I pay a monthly membership for my wife to get her car washed. I do all mine by hand, myself.

My pickup is a workhorse. I Sometimes wash the mud off it at the car wash. Keep it in the garage at home.

What’s a car wash? Mine gets washed when I take it to the Dodge dealer for a recall or to buy filters, so 2 times a year. I do the interior as needed. Rest of the time I let Mother Nature do her thang

Never had a vehicle detailed.

Re: Getting car detailed. If you do. - 02/17/20 12:34 AM

My wife haf a little red go fast car for a while. She did the deluxe $20 wash every week or so. Understand I very seldom got into that car, but for a surprise, I made a appointment to have it detailed.

Detail day comes and goes. Car was already spotless. Easiest $150 those guys ever made.

Moral of story.... A vehicle deluxed washed often is as good as any detail job I have ever seen.

I try to get it done once a month. Out here it used to be $39 for what I would call a detail and they did it all. Now Stripes has changed their structuring and it’s cheaper and crappier or you can pay $99 and get the full thing including wax. I got the full detail and all they waxed was the doors and the fenders. Even the inside was done pretty bad so I quit going. I have had a few different mobile detailers do it at the shop but they all either don’t show up or they half [censored] it.

The Wife has hers detailed in Miniola when needed, great job, Me and my Mounaineer, always to the $1.00 wash place, looks good to me, however I do wash the windows.

My truck only gets washed after an extra muddy lease trip (like yesterday) or the rare time at the dealership. The hand car wash in Cisco is the absolute best...great power, hot water, a lot of time for the buck, and big stalls.

Spent a couple hours washing mine yesterday, hadn’t been washed for a couple months. Then vacuum at the car wash around the corner.

Then it rained last nite. mad

Why bother?

Mine is a 2015 and I haven't washed it since it was 2 months old....

I have been thinking I need to wash/wax and vacuum the interior and add an air freshener, its starting to get an aroma like an old work truck.

To me detail = hand wash and wax at a min, don't think your gonna get that for no $20. When I was in high school I hand washed and waxed my namesake red chevy every 2 weeks, damn that truck looked GOOD! Never had one since I cared to look at that much.

I get the $9 wash at fuel city down the street about 3-4 times a year. I tip the guy at the entrance that scrubs the grill before you go though and ask him to scrub the tailgate good since the wash doesnt get it all.

You'll smell a world of difference if you just change the interior air filter.

It doesn't have one. The RAM's in my year range you have to cut a hole in the duct and install a door/hatch to put a filter in it.

Probably wash mine once or twice a month and that's running thru a local wash and then wiping and detailing it myself. I drive my truck into a refinery daily so there's no need to keep it spotless with the dirt and grim it sees.

I keep the inside hospital clean as my OCD is pretty strong.

THIS

my truck gets washed weekly, "ProClean" exterior only, $20, towel dry with wheeels and tires.

I wont drive in chitty weather, stays in garage, which is "off road" for me.

even been looking at selling it and downsizing. Its like parking a battle ship.
