https://www.facebook.com/165651013482503/posts/2558997830814464/?d=n&substory_index=0At 5:54 this morning, FWFD Engine 11 was dispatched to a reported MVA with a vehicle rolled-over on Highway 114 westbound, just south of Texas Motor Speedway. When E11 arrived on scene, Firefighter Shonna Moorman exited the engine and made her way toward the accident scene. As Firefighter Moorman approached the front of the engine she heard the sound of a vehicle coming to a rapid stop behind her. Firefighter Moorman made the quick decision to continue moving toward the front of the engine to seek safety. Unfortunately she was unable to make it around the engine before being struck by a passenger vehicle. The crew from Engine 11 quickly surveyed the scene and determined that the original MVA was minor with no injuries and began immediate treatment on Firefighter Moorman. Firefighters quickly stabilized Moorman and she was transported to Baylor Grapevine for further evaluation and treatment of a serious but non-life threatening lower leg injury. Firefighter Moorman is now resting comfortably and has a long road ahead to recovery but is in good spirits and great hands.
We would like to thank those who assisted in the incident this morning: FWFD Station 11, FWPD, Baylor Grapevine and MedStar.
The Highway is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous places Firefighters respond to. Today’s outcome while tragic could have been much worse.
***DRIVERS, when you see emergency vehicles stopped or responding: Slow Down and Move Over.***
