I avoid LAX like the plague, It's like landing in a 3rd World Country Airport. Nasty, Crowded and a general POS.

I use SFO instead

My Samsung S7 asks me if I want an an active data link when I plug into USB. Unless I say yes, no data in or out. It's a setup menu item.
I see no need for public charging stations now, because very high capacity external battery charging packs are so cheap. Mine was $30 and will recharge my phone multiple times. (12 amp storage capacity)

Nothing is free, especially in airports. Get a portable battery operated charger. Use that to charge your phone. Use the free charging port to charge the battery operated charger. No data to steal from it.

Plus, I think most charging stations don't offer fast charging of any kind which is a bum deal considering that pretty much all major flagships have it now.

LAX is my least favorite airport. This makes it even worse, but it’s clearly not the only place doing it.

I use them all over USA and Asia, never had an issue. I also carry an extension cord with 4 outlets, so I can tap wall sockets as well and charge: phones, laptops, speaker, etc

How would you know if your data is being stolen? Just because they haven’t stolen your credit card number doesn’t mean that aren’t using the rest of your data.

Well you might not know because they’re allegedly stealing your data, not pushing stuff to your phone. But rest assured that they know stuff you didn’t tell them.

My wife bought this small solar charger name "4Patriot" it works great it is either solar or you can plug in for charging. It's about the sixe of a pack of cigarettes.

When I travel overseas I take a unlocked Samsung S7 Active and get a SIM Card and load (prepaid talk/text/data) when I land in Philippines at Manila Airport.

I don't keep anything on it to steal. My android phone I don't keep sensitive data or even Credit Card # on it either. I pay most things via my laptop. I always plug that into an outlet never into a public charging station since it doesn't take a USB.
