Are you referring to the old 1849 Village on University? It hasn't been there for 30 years.

That was an amazing place, I had a class in Dallas in the fall of 1975 and the class met for dinner there one night. For several years when ever we made it to Dallas we would go there.

Yep. XTO bought it and renovated it for their Barnett Shale field office. It was originally the Swift meat packing plant. I did a lot of work in there when they fixed it up. They preserved a lot of really neat history in there, when they did.

I had forgotten that it had been a Swift packing plant. I remember at the time thinking the old Swift plant on Abilene would make a good place for a Spaghetti Warehouse. It was vacant back then, now it has offices, and is largely vacant. But the PTB opened a Spaghetti Warehouse in the Mall of Abilene and it life was short lived.

do you remember a steakhouse, not far from the base back in the 80's that was part of a hotel or motel? we ate there once and it's probably the best steak I ever had.

Cool stuff up for auction up
Been to the one in downtown Dallas about 4 or 5 times total over the last I guess 20 years or so, our old next door neighbor was I think the regional VP and took us to there a couple of times.

It has been a while since I had eaten there but it was always good and good memories too. However, the last couple of times I had to work on their equipment I was really surprised that the place hadn’t burnt down due to the electrical or the roof collapsed due to the leaks it had. They closed the one in Plano a couple of years back and that one was in just as bad of condition. There is a new place that took it over and gutted it and should be opening soon.

Current Mrs. LJ.... in 1995...

Our first date was a day date. We went to the gun show at the convention center and dinner at the west end location. To this day, when she tells the story she says "I told her to eat fast fast, this place is a fire trap!"

When it first opened, it was good....the West End was great then too....anyone remember Newports Seafood in the old brewery? That place was great! And the first Mortons in Dallas was down there too.

I first ate there in about 1972.
It was great. All of a sudden, everybody in Dallas was going to the West End warehouse district.

They had a lasagne about 6" tall.
