Tropical Storm Imelda - 09/17/19 08:48 PM

Bring it. A warning was just issued for parts of the Texas coast. Expected to dump inches of rain on the Houston area. It's rained off and on all day. I've gotten .3 of a inch.

Some places feet possible. Have fun!

Re: Tropical Storm Imelda - 09/17/19 09:06 PM

Be careful down there. Flooding is never a good thing!

Re: Tropical Storm Imelda - 09/17/19 09:12 PM

Hoping to get some of it off the western edge here. We need it bad.
Posted By: MikeC

Re: Tropical Storm Imelda - 09/17/19 09:19 PM

We're supposed to get some rain out of it starting Thursday through Saturday. They say 2 to 3 inches and we need it.

Re: Tropical Storm Imelda - 09/17/19 09:20 PM

What’s the projected path? Hopefully it moves on through quickly, and doesn’t flood Downtown Houston. I’ve got tickets to the Astros last home game on Sunday.

Re: Tropical Storm Imelda - 09/17/19 09:22 PM

Man, I wish it was further south. We are dangerously dry and need a storm to come in closer to Corpus (with no real damage) so we get the benefit of the rain in central Texas. Maybe we'll get the fringes.

I'll pass on any hurricanes any time soon. Thanks though.

Sitting in downtown Houston well into the leading bands, still no wind. Should have the eye pass over. Lots of rain.

It's supposed to come in on my good buddy Palehorse.

We've got about 2/10 so far.
More to come, the eye is supposed to be just west of us later. We need the rain.

My work is freaking out...seems like Clear Lake has gotten a wee bit skittish lately. peep

Text notification came out "officially" notifying folks that it is OK to work remotely tomorrow. The millennials are having a field day with it. You'd think they gave everyone an extra week of vacation or something.

Doesn't do me any good, I work from home anyway.

Buzz, think your right. They have really backed off on our rain chances. We could sure use a shower here.

I just have to say I'm not happy with CCISD's response to the entire thing. Pretty much everyone south of Houston announced yesterday afternoon/early evening they were closing schools today. CCISD decided they would't make a decision until they met at 3AM and then didn't make an announcement until around 4:30AM. By 5AM, we had three different automated phone calls and multiple texts telling us school was closed. The notification was nice, but come on, why the H didn't you just close yesterday afternoon like everyone else in the area and not have to wake everyone up between 4:30 and 5AM with phone calls.

We got about 14 1/2 inches here on Tiki, no worries here. The Galveston streets flooded, but they do that in a normal rain.

We were at 12" when I got home at 1am. Started raining again around 7 and looks like it's gonna be all day. Our house got 4ft in it from Harvey, hope we can stay dry this go around.

Our house got 3 feet in Harvey. We are getting pounded. Drove out to check the bayou and its only at half capacity now. It looks like the system is moving faster now so hopefully it keeps moving and gets out of here. Power keeps flickering.

Called it. Well NWS did. They have nailed the tropical systems this year.

I was in Houston by Rice for a wedding and it rained 8 inches south of downtown. North of there maybe got an inch. Quite a few folks missed the wedding. If I didn't have an SUV I would have drowned it. Tons of cars stuck and several folks died.

Good luck to those folks.

Re: Tropical Storm Imelda - 09/19/19 09:28 PM

Gotta love the brilliant minds running CCIiSD. Their awesome weather people told them at 3AM everything would be fine today and they should go ahead and have school according to schedule. By 10AM they had cancelled all after school activities and by 11 were sending everyone home early. Friggin idiots. Everyone in Houston knew the storm was going to loop back around and then head back south. But nooooo, CCiSD has to get their attendance $$$$’s

Fingers crossed. It went down a lot quicker in my area because of the absorption of the already dry ground as well as the runoff.

We moved in here in January but it isn't the house we are building. That house will be about 5ft higher than this one.

Water has gone down 3/4" since noon.
