Penfed Fraud Dept - 08/16/19 02:22 PM

Got to hand it to these folks for being on the ball!

Called and asked if I had made a few charges last night, ahhh"NO"!!! Haven't used the card since the middle of last month at a Shell station in Godley.

Will definitely contact that station too , this stuff really P'sMO bang

Over the last 15 years, this has happened to me twice before, so I double and triple check any place I have to scan my card and they never leave my sight and, still a pos was able to attempt a steal, basement dwellers smgdh.

Vent over, carry on

Western, I think you're in the minority to have it happen to you only twice in that time. We're constantly fighting it.

I hope it's a coincidence, but a couple of months ago, the day after I dropped off USDA forms that contained my Soc. Sec. # at the NRCS office (a Federal Government office - they assured me that they had to have it), I get emails that someone's attempted to check my credit and open credit accounts. 'Gotta letter from one of the places later saying "sorry we couldn't grant you credit". Thank goodness I had everything of ours locked down as tight as you can and Fraud Alerts on everything.

It's rampant everywhere. I feel for all the elderly and some of them not being able to catch it in time.

I hear you CR, read a few of the ordeals you have been thru, enough to make blood boil.

I'm a believer and going str8 to the point with the credit freeze thing, but that only really covers for attempts at gaining false credit, (which is huge btw). All my CC's have good fraud depts, some can be zealous like Cap 1, but I'd rather wait a day for a new card then let some ah drink beer on me i dont know.

My Master Card will give me instant credit.

PFCU has always been good like that...probably stems from their stinginess with money. I used to bank with them...then I paid my truck off. Wrote a $26k check. Then I tried to borrow for a motorcycle a couple months later. Nope. Denied.

Closed my account that day and beat feet over to USAA. Never another problem. USAA will shut my card down in a heartbeat too. Quite aggravating, actually. Doggone CC thiefs.

Glad all is well with you, sir.

My wife has been hit twice this year already and I don’t have a clue how. She’s a stay at home mom and rarely goes anywhere. And both times it’s her card. Capital one handles it but even when they send a fraud alert to you to check it was an inconvenience for them to help.

This, I keep enough cash to pay for what ever we eat or will walk to the register to pay with my card. It didn't completely stop getting hit but really slowed it down a lot. It was happening multiple times a year and we narrowed it down to sit down food establishments.

Our mortgage is through Penfed and they’re kinda annoying. They forced my wife and I to each open a checking account in order to get a mortgage, which we didn’t want to do. They have not been very helpful when I actually needed it, and also had my last name spelled wrong in their system somehow. It was showing up properly on my side, but when I had an issue they had to look something up and it was spelled incorrectly on their side. Took forever to fix, too.

We have USAA for car and home insurance, plus we each have a personal slush fund account and our savings account is with USAA.

USAA has been awesome to work with. Very customer oriented and has caught when my card has gotten compromised very quickly and issued a new one quickly also.
