Road Trip!

Road Trip! - 07/25/19 11:17 AM

I'm about to head out with the family on a 17 day road trip west pulling the RV.

Albuquerque
Grand Canyon
Vegas
Sequoia National Forest
Huntington Beach
San Diego

Should be an adventure.

I am just hoping for a smooth trip without major vehicle/trailer issues.

From Vegas, you will drive, and should drive through death valley
At the end of death valley, there is a gas station, very good restaurant and motel. They have rv hook ups.
Its called panamint resort. Stop there, the owner is super cool. They have Leffe on tap! He might take you at night in his firetruck through death valley stargazing. You absolutely have to stay there overnite. If not, at least eat there, the burgers and pizza are the best you ever had, and besides the Leffe, they have 150 different beers.

Thanks everyone!

Day one just about in the books.

Stopped at the "Blue Hole" for a swim and lunch.

We made it to the Route 66 RV Resort. Headed out tomorrow for the Grand Canyon.

Pure greatness...lifelong memories being made.... up

All my kids were road warriors....was fun to hear them come home from school talking about some place that came up during their class that they had been to....
I made sure to mix the trips up with natural, historical, and simple entertainment stops....

They saw a lot of country most of their peers won't see in their entire lifetimes....

cheers

Great RV place near Carlsbad, CA just north of San Diego. We were at the Hilton across the street but RVs were on top. We had the beach to ourselves. [Linked Image]

A friend of mine did a 70 day trip with his wife and kids. I think he hit 38 states. It looked like a blast.

Grand Canyon sunset and sunrise didn't disappoint. iPhone pictures do not do it justice.

I was filming the storm roll in when the lightning hit and I was able to grab a screen shot of it.

Re: Road Trip! - 07/31/19 04:17 AM

Update..

Vegas was too dang hot and no shade. The Cirque Du Soleil show was pretty amazing but other than that not a great place to have the kids. Didn't spend a lot of time there.

Las Angles

The New Port, Huntington and Laguna areas were really nice but the city overall was not what I pictured.

Of all the beaches we went to in L.A. and San Diego we liked Huntington Beach.

I love visiting San Diego. I go out there and few times a year to shoot. Used to be able to have breakfast at The Fantail Cafe on the USS Midway. Was sorry when that closed. Safe travels!
