Black eye

When was you last one? Before yesterday I would have said I don’t remember.


I had a disagreement with a calf yesterday morning over whether or not he got to keep his family jewels. He caught me pretty good in the right eye with his hind leg. But I left his testicles laying in the ground, so I think I won. My eye will heal, but those aren’t gonna grow back for him.

My face is fine and honestly not as painful as it looks. I was almost as upset about breaking my sunglasses. Back to Costa they go for new frames.

I've never had one, too fast for that.

About 250-300 pounds. Too small to get a good squeeze and allow me enough room to work.

Softball. Playing shortstop. Guy on first base and a ground ball straight at me. I thought, “OK double play ball.”

Ball bounces 1 foot and I think “Nice!” Ball bounces again 1 foot I’m thinking “Awesome! Balls coming in low, easy underhand flip to second base.” Ball bounces a third time....

Doc - don't they teach you to tie a leg back? I've seen one of my vets tie a leg back when he's messing with the under side of a bull or larger calf. The small ones can surprise you sometimes.

Had a very bad incident with the butt of a crossbow while cocking it in the mud on opening bow day last year.
Whole left side of my face was swollen really bad, luckily no fracture, and didn't knock me out surprisingly.
Learned a valuable lesson that day.

What really happened

I do plenty of dumb stuff, but you’ll never catch me doing something like that. Every time in I lay one down or euthanize I warn people to stay clear of the legs. People have been seriously injured by a kick from a dead horse or cow.

My kiddo went to pull these after I slit the sack.... He was kicking a bit and they were a bit bigger then I usually wait but they were my neighbors and not mine.... So I did the pulling and she did the posing.... but no black eyes...
