Home Appraisal time... again!

Home Appraisal time... again! - 04/22/19 11:44 PM

I got my letter from the county, and they went up again exactly the max of 10%... again. Then when I looked on-line to protest it, they had it valued even higher, but 10% was all they could do. It's almost like a job every year to protest the value. Last year I got it reduced $37,000 to what it should have been. That added up to 8 months reduction on our mortgage with the savings we put back into principal. And reduced our house payment by a decent amount. It's certainly worth it to fight it. But jeez. It sucks.

I fought them several years until I hit a blank wall. It was a little bit degrading. I called O'Connor and associates. They only charge you half what that save you on the first year. It was a relief. Fort Bend county appraisers actually were condescending.

It’s an uphill battle and they know it

I’m sure they are spending it all wisely....

Mine went up for the 3rd year, this time I am protesting. I could have swore we all voted to end this farce several years back..

I fight my valuation every year.

Property Tax is legalized theft in my opinion

Mine went up less than 1% so this year I am going to set this one out. Lots of house sold around me so the market must be kind of flat.

Mine is up 10% and from what I can tell, the only one I’ve found in my neighborhood to do so. I’ve pulled 30 or so comps, 6 identical to mine. I’m about 5% higher than the similar homes and most homes increased 4-5%. There’s no rhyme or reason.. almost feels like I’m being targeted.

10% maximum?

Fannin county is trying to hit me at 23% increase this year. As bad as my road is, they will be hearing from me.

The market value can go up by whatever it goes up, but I believe if you have it homesteaded they can only tax you 10% more than the prior year.

I agree, it is a job. Whole deal is a farce.

Mine went up 13% so 26% in 3 years. Essentially paying 30% more in taxes than 3 years ago.

There's the explanation. It is not a homestead.

I can't. They didn't touch mine for 9 years. Dirt is worth more than what I paid.

I did it online 2 years ago. Attached pictures. They lowered market a whopping $2K which did nothing since taxes were already maxed at 10% increase.

Take a guess what home values in Midland, TX have done over the past few years.

Used O'Conner for nearly 20 years and now Parker County CAD will not allow them to protest my property valuation. Not sure what happened there, but need to find another company,

Us too. Our home value skyrocketed but our taxes fell. We’re both over 65.

Re: Home Appraisal time... again! - 04/26/19 12:16 PM

Over 65 you do not have to pay at all.
