A’s expecting Kyler to enter the draft. He was only given a portion of his 4.6 million.
I think his passion is the NFL, not bouncing around minor leagues for a few years. I personally think he will make more in the NFL. The endorsement deals are much more lucrative in NFL than MLB.

Good luck seeing over the lineman, and Good Luck outrunning NFL linebackers. Smartplay would be playing baseball.

I think it is just a goal of his. I’m sure since the 8th grade he was told he was to short.
I just think the windows of opportunity are different in both sports.
Plus. NFL is working in more and more college schemes. Hence, Kingsbury falling forward into an NFL job.

I posted essentially the same thing a while back. Baseball gets to try him out before committing to the big bucks. NFL won't have that opportunity.

Re: Kyler Murray to enter NFL draft. - 01/10/19 01:28 PM
NFL quicker, richer potential; MLB requires a lot more proving himself in minors, riches more down the road if ever coming. If memory serves me, he's done way more and been much more successful in his high school and college days on the football field than baseball diamond. I remember him a very good baseball player at Allen High but a great, unbelievable football player. Could very well be that he's simply being realistic about his true potential in either sport.

I bet he’s a second rounder. Unless the raiders take a shot with one of their 3? first round picks.

I would say a second rounder also, but the NFL is a QB starved league right now, and several teams looking for that franchise QB.
He won't know if he has was it takes until he tries!

Adam Schefter says Arizona may be interested in him. This would make sense considering who their new HC is although they did take Josh Rosen last year. He will go in the top half of the first round.

Re: Kyler Murray to enter NFL draft. - 01/10/19 02:09 PM
Murray's potential is greater in baseball. He is too short to play QB in the NFL. Some team might come up with a package for him so he can use his quickness and speed, but I don't see him doing much in the NFL. MLB will make him more money over the long haul and will save him some hard knocks.

I agreee. But something tells me that kid has been told every year he’s to small. And he has proven them/me wrong.
I feel he is determined, just like Flutie. Once Flutie was given a shot, not to bad.

NFL players have gotten taller and faster since Flutie. If he does go to the NFL he will be losing a lot of balls because of his small hands. Hes just too small for the nfl.

That's a heck of a calculated risk, giving up a guaranteed 10 million to walk into a league that doesn't guarantee money at this point, plus with the restructuring of rookie contracts, man he has some walnuts.

Re: Kyler Murray to enter NFL draft. - 01/10/19 03:23 PM
Andrew Luck signed a 6 year deal worth $140 Million in 2016 which is basically the largest NFL contract ever given.
Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera, Robinson Cano, Albert Pujols all signed contracts worth $100 Million more than Luck. Bryce Harper was offered a 10 year deal for $300 Million and turned it down, more than double Luck's.
Considering the way most football contracts are structured with relatively 'cheap' rookie deals, you would have a very hard time talking me into going the NFL route over MLB

Although, physical longevity is much better

I think you guys are misjudging the compete that this kid carries along with the grind that is minor league baseball. In the NFL he will get his shot whether he can be successful or not who knows. But he will be riding first class to and from each stadium, the media, endorsement deals, ect… He will be treated like a king compared to what minor league baseball has to offer. NFL rookies are on 4 year contracts worth about $2.3 million total, add in endorsements ect.. and I don't think the initial money difference is going to be very far apart.
Hell Tebow went back and got a shot at baseball so I know Murray will be able to if the NFL doesn't work out.

Who is the current shortest best qb?
Honestly I think it’s dumb , plenty of good short people in the nba

Re: Kyler Murray to enter NFL draft. - 01/10/19 04:57 PM
The comparisons to mlb and nfl are very fair.
Endorsements more in nfl. Even Eli Manning makes 10 millions year on endorsements.
Yes baseball makes more, but 10 times the amount of games.
In baseball youre less likely to have a brain injury.

^^^^^ Longevity is better in MLB but why anyone would want to play the game is beyond me. It's a snoozer.

Russell Wilson probably is. We all know he isn't any good. Poor guy. Drew Brees is 6'00" and he has barely been able to compete at the NFL level.

Murray is several inches short than both of those guys. It would give me pause if I was a GM. We'll see what happens, I'm not against any man taking what the market will pay.
Not built to be an NFL QB. He could be a player if used like Sproles IMO.

6’5” 6’4” 6’5” 6’5” 6’4” thats OUs starting line this year. The average height of an NFL lineman is 6’5” so I don’t think seeing over the lineman is an issue as some have said. There isn’t that much of a difference in size between college and the NFL, but the skill level is obviously greater. The only issue I see with him playing in the league is longevity, but that is every players issue. The average NFL career is less than 4 years. The guy has the speed and talent to earn a shot. Being tall doesn’t automatically make you a successful qb, Vince Young, Jamarcus Russsell and Ryan Mallet come to mind but there is many more examples. If I remember correctly people said he was too short to be a successful QB at the college level because of his size and that he would probably have to switch positions, he’s obviously proven that to be false.

The NFL rules of protecting the QB are pretty strict, which helps him.
Who do you want as a backup QB?
Colt McCoy
Cooper Rush.
Ryan Tannehill
Mark Sanchez.
Give me Kyler.

Hand size should be interesting. He fumbled at the red river shootout trying to scramble.....nobody touched him. Just came out of his hand.

Hope he goes to the NFL. The way they are protecting quarterbacks now he could have a long successful career. He is only 2 inches shorter than Russell Wilson.

He is stupid if he doesn't pursue baseball as his career of choice. More guaranteed $$ in most cases, more longevity, and he is 5'9", which doesn't matter in baseball but is a huge deficit in football.

That happens. There are a few running backs in the NFL smaller than he is without his speed and quickness.

Rookies drafted in first 2 rounds have guaranteed contracts. If he goes in the first round he would be guaranteed at least $10 Mil.....If he's out of the league in 3 years he can always go play baseball again.
