Beans and Ham - 01/24/23 09:02 PM

Cold today, so needed something warm. Wanted to try out the little 3qt mini Insta-Pot I got for the RV. Looks kinda bland, and feel it is missing something.

Wife's allergic to onions, so they have to go on my foods afterwards. She likes toast, I like crackers with mine!! smile Pretty good for whites, instead of pintos.

Love me some white beans.

If you haven't tried them yet, cook you a pot of Mayocoba Beans. Hard to go back to pintos after that.

I have to admit I have never seen them in the store here, or tried them. I will have to go to one of our Hispanic groceries and find some.

Yessr, they are pretty much nonexistent outside of S Texas. IMO they are best cooked in a traditional Mexican clay pot over an open campfire.

If you can't find them or they are too high on-line just let me know, I'd be glad to ship you some.

Wally world has them, fiesta has them
All the mex stores, mercado de mexico,
el rio grande, heb, albertsons, etc.
Goya has their own packaging, and lots
of different brands.
To me, they're about like great northern beans

Where is here Sir?

To me, they are similar to a butter bean in a pinto bean body. Little creamy and a little sweet, and absorb your seasonings way better than pintos.

My mom always used navy beans and definitely had cornbread with the ham and beans every time!

You eat that in an RV, you better turn the fan up to high and get an ice pack for the backside, scared
