Smothered Sausage - 03/17/22 05:16 AM

One of my favorite meals. Served with collard greens, smoked ham hocks & cream corn.

Looks beautiful and delicious too. I would founder on that, even tho I'm not a fan of creamed corn o a plate. Glad to see you plated it on rice. Jasmine rice makes the meal!

Living in Hawaii and Guam we loved having shredded and chopped chicken over creamed corn and rice!!!

Re: Smothered Sausage - 03/17/22 04:38 PM

Thanks fellas, it was good.

Good eye on the rice Blank, Jasmine is all I use now for almost everything. I wish I had some of the local Jasmine rice that I found while working in Singapore, good Lord that was some good rice. Made the best dirty rice and jambalaya ever.

This is the first time I've ever used store bought sausage to make a smothered sausage, it was good but not the same. Normally I use my homemade pork & green onion fresh sausage, but I'm out. Need to get off my butt, I have a lot of sausage to make.

Thanks for lookin'.

The closes thing I have ever seen to that is hot dogs and gravy. A buddy of mine from college was originally from North Dakota, and his family ate it all the time. But that looks wayyy better!!!

Thanks Herbie. I've never heard of hot dogs & gravy.

Smothered sausage is big in Cajun Country, that's where I first had it. Any fresh sausage works well, but especially a pork and green onion fresh sausage IMO. I like anything rice & gravy lol.

Yeah I love me some rice and brown gravy, I don't have it very often, but there is something about it. Next time I want it Ill try and remember to get some fresh sausage.
