Frozen Margarita - Custom or Mixer?

Frozen Margarita - Custom or Mixer? - 02/08/22 12:04 AM

I was passing through San Antonio the other day & I had lunch at a Mexican restaurant. Just for the heck of it I ordered a frozen margarita. Dang it was good! Now I'm on a kick to make some at home.

Do you frozen marg lovers mix custom with limeade or just use a mixer like Bacardi Margarita mix?

My buddy squeezes limes and then puts the juice in ice cube trays. Chunk them in a blender for the best marg you've had.

Equal parts lime juice freshly squeezed, tequila and triple sec. Only need a couple before you’re off the rails.

Yup. Don't go cheap on the tequila, it's only like 2 oz. Juice of two limes, 2oz tequila, 2 oz triple sec. Pinch of salt in the shaker with ice.....have this on the rocks. You may forget about that frozen concoction.

3 fingers pour of quality tequila, lime on the rim, no salt. Best margarita ever

Without having to go crazy on Top Shelf types. This right here is a very good simple mix!

Forgot to add the Margarita mix in the below pic with pickled Jalapenos slices which is my favorite way.

Every now and then I will have a foo foo one.

Well it's Sunday Mornin'
And the sun in shinin'
In my eye that is open
And my head is spinnin'
Was the life of the party
I can't stop grinnin'
I had to much Tequila last night

Jose Cuervo you are a friend of mine
I like to drink you with a little salt and lime
Did I kiss all the cowboys?
Did I shoot out the lights?
Did I dance on the bar?
Did I start a fight?

Now wait a minute
Things don't look to familiar
Who is this cowboy
Who's sleepin' beside me?
He's awful cute, but how'd I
Get his shirt on?
I had to much Tequila last night

I was really wondering about Frozen Margaritas.

Do you professional mixologists never make frozen Marg's? TIA

I'm really easy, and cheap too. I like the taste of the Daily's frozen margarita pouches, so I keep a few in the freezer. They are pretty sweet, very tart and freeze up almost too hard to drink. Since they are only 10 proof, they are perfect to squeeze out into a glass, add another two ounces of tequila, and stir. Slushy and drinkable then!!

Someone gave me this recipe years ago in Midland.
I made for a party we were having and I was literally shoveling people off the floor at the end of the night! nuts
I'm older now and don't care much for the sweetness, but my kids will call me every year or so wanting "the margarita recipe".
I think they like torching friends with it.

1 - (12 ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate (semi-thawed)
12 ounces tequila
6 ounces 7-up
6 ounces water
12 ounces beer (corona or dos XX)
ice (lots of ice!)
lime (wedges)

combine all except limes and blend until smooth
serve with lime wedges
collect car keys.

With beer? Sounds weird but I'll give it a try! Thanks... cheers

It's tough getting the consistency right for frozen ones at home. You'll have to play with the ice you're using and ratios to get it just right.

On the rocks is a different story

Yep on the rocks, best margarita you’ll have and yes it doesn’t take many. I drink them too fast and boy when they kick in, they really KICK IN rofl
