Coolbots - 11/28/21 11:39 PM

Not sure if this the best place for this thread or not not, but...Anyone have experience with coolbots? From what I've read about them they seem up to the task for small coolers. I plan to build a fairly large one, probably 12x16 and 9' high inside. It'll be used for deer carcasses but also for an occassional beef. I've been accumulating used processing equipment for a while now and have a legit meat saw, commercial grinder etc. I worked in a butcher shop when I was a teenager. That was 40 years ago so I'm sure I'll be a little rusty but think I can do a decent job processing a couple of beef. I can raise my own animals and save a lot of money if I slaughter and process myself. Not looking to do it for hire, just for (very large) extended family. Anyway, the cooler would probably only need to run a few weeks/year so I don't want to spend a fortune on a refrigeration system. I'd be willing to run 2 AC units with coolbots if they'll do the job. Thanks.

I have only seen 2in operation. Both were home built about 8x8, they would freeze meat solid

Heck, if we want stuff hanging in the garage to freeze solid, we just leave the garage door open overnight!! smile

Seriously, I have two friends who have built these down south and they work fairly well. Temps will get down to the 34-38 degree range, with a CoolBot controller and a 10-12K BTU commercial AC unit. I think they built theirs with6" thick rigid foam walls and ceiling and on concrete floor.

They work well . We use one at the ranch in and not so well insulated 4x10' cooler on the back of the shop/barn.
Get the right a/c and you can go with blue tooth option or not.
Once dialed in they will work surprisingly well.
We have a friend that put one in a keg cooler/ utility shed at a brewery and it is still going strong years later, a/c has been changed out .

Put sheet metal on the walls, that will make it easy to clean, just it hose down. The 2 that I saw just used 2nds of roofing metal from Mueller Supply.
